Nintendo will stop supporting the switch in 5 to 7 years. What will happen with this feature? Will my games be "stucked" in the last device I transfer them to, or will they be linked only to my Nintendo account? Is this a new step towards making all content digital?
I imagine that since it's meant to just be a function of the console it'll probably still work. You can still download Wii U eshop games that you own so I doubt they'll be different for the switch.
They specified that an internet conection is required when loading or ejecting a game, and I doubt that they'll allow you to transfer digital games once the servers are taken down.
I think requiring an internet connection doesn't mean that the feature goes away when the servers are down. Most of the time consoles are capable of accessing the internet for at least some things even after the online service ends. Including, like I said, downloads for games you already own.
This is true but also such an improvement over what they have now. I gave my launch Switch to my kids and got a new one and I basically can't play digital games without an internet connection. Been buying physical almost exclusively ever since.
