She made a speech in DC this week which barely caused a murmer. But it was a speech which had echoes of Tommy Robinson. We need to talk about the radicalisaton of the mainstream right.

I fear that the sound thinkers analysing are only being heard by other like minded people. Meanwhile people with extremely worrying views are more strategic in going out, spreading and normalising.

It’s a possibility for sure. Arguably it’s the responsible thing to ensure the discussion reaches a wider audience (share the podcast!). Even on Bluesky - a platform dominated by informed liberals - some people argue it is wrong to talk about SB’s comments. That’s a simplistic, dangerous argument.

If you are right why do you think the far right look for such publicity. Does Farage go on BBC QT fearing the consequences? Why does Braverman give such a speech if publicity damaged her.

Please give one scrap of evidence that such exposure saved us from Brexit lies os the US from the far right.

I don’t disagree with you on that. The coverage isn’t representative. But that doesn’t and shouldn’t preclude valuable contributions like this - it’s a huge story that a former Home Secretary is invoking imagery and language of Fascism when publicly speaking in another country like Trump’s USA.

I’m advocating balance. Farage is more engaging than Ed Davy. Braverman’s comments more likely to enrage than anything the Greens might say. Lewis (like others in the media) platforms extreme views because those views ‘put bums on seats’.

The far right know this and get more than their fair ….

Quite the contrary. Journalists like Lewis like to think that by engaging with extremists they reveal something we didn’t already know. What it does however is normalise extreme views and extreme behaviour. You’re allowed to hate others because you see people in positions of authority do the same
