I'm not saying it's about the citizenship alone, but it's a basic security measure when dealing with masses of information that could be sensitive enough to affect national or individual security. Canada is not the US.

Same with Canada. Foreign contractors *may* be allowed clearance in private companies *if* there is a compelling reason a citizen cannot fill the role and they will never handle information unrelated to their direct report or government data itself.

It's just utterly bizarre. In Germany, we could sue at the EU level for a violation like this. It's part of why the Conservatives wanted to take the UK out of the ECHR, too. Who protects you when the federal government is doing the crimes?

Kamala Harris kept telling people if Trump wins again there will be “no guardrails” but they chose to ignore it.

If we’re lucky the voters can undo it in 2026.

For the record, as a white woman, I also feel there is a democratic deficit when Black women's and other minority votes are struck off or aren't counted properly, or gerrymandered into insignificance (I'm British-German, so different issues): They vote more like me, so my vote has to work double.
