I hate game journalism articles that are like "FANS DISCOVER NEW SUPER SECRET AREA WITH HIDDEN MESSAGE" and it's literally a place that you have to go through to complete the game or some shit

I feel the same way about YouTube videos that are “5 Things you didn’t know about Baldur’s Gate 3” or whatever game, but I knew all 5 and they’re not particularly hidden
I just read an article the other day about some huge, little-known secret from Zelda: Link to the Past...and turns out it's just referring to what happens when you attack chickens. Which everybody knows about. 😑
"CHECK OUT THE OFFICIAL REAL LIFE VERSION OF [GAME CHARACTER] THAT FANS ARE GOING ABSOLUTELY CRAZY ABOUT" and its a 600 word article about how a game company retweeted a cosplay, and then some fans were like "wow thats a cool cosplay"
like for example (cyberpunk spoilers if you care about it) i got an article once that said sum shit like "cyberpunk fans discover crazy new secret ending" and the secret ending in question is literally just what happens if you dont do the quest properly and die and have to restart it
Back in the day I saw an article about a secret area below the main map of Skyrim. Years after Skyrim was released. The area turned out to be Blackreach. You go through Blackreach for the main quest.
i saw an article a few weeks ago with a title like "Fans worldwide are revolutionising the Pokémon TCG using TCGP inspired rules!" and then it was an entire article written about a Reddit post where two people did that and that was it
"One secret trick to turn ____ into a whole new game!" And it's just picking the female character model instead of the male so the armor looks different and the NPCs say "she" instead of "he"
the only time i can think of "choose a different option" making a noticeable difference is playing pokemon and getting different text to not read at all and sometimes very specific battles are mildly different
Or "this upcoming game is exploding in popularity" and it's yet another whatever-alike that's mildly different and YEARS from release if it ever sees daylight, but the writer happened to notice it so it MUST be a big deal or something
To be clear, mad respect to indie devs, & glad when their work gets noticed. But to the click baiters -- don't taunt me with new games I'll never get to play, a-holes.
