there are so many different kinds of quilting! you have a wonderful world in front of you. i think the most basic place to start is sewing together squares (four patch or nine patch blocks) or strips. a lap quilt is perfect! there are tonnnnns of tutorials online - ThreadSky

the moth is all fused applique. i add fusible web to a lot of different fabrics and cut out lots of pieces. i make a guide drawing on a plain muslin base and then fill it up with the pieces, and press them into place with the iron when i’m happy with the arrangement.

📌 I've made a note of this. Thank you so much! I think it'll be a great way to use some fabric from clothes I adore but no longer wear and aren't really ready to donate. Will definitely look up some tutorials.

Squares...I want to go straight to roses and teapots and trees and all of the things but I understand what you mean lol...baby steps, et cetera! Thanks again for the inspiration -- your quilts are works of art and imagination fuel.

well you get the fabric with roses on it and cut in squares first. but you can skip that if you go straight to fused/machine applique and never piece 😅
