@susanslusser.bsky.social what did you think this means for Giants starting pitching targets? Still Burnes or will Giants look elsewhere. I am assuming this means they weren’t going to land Burnes and went another plan.
I love that this makes a statement to the league and public in general- the Giants can land a big fish. Who knows how it plays out, but as a fan I can't wait to see Chappy/Adames/Fitzgerald for years to come.
This was the most obvious fit for this years free agents. Great to see Wily get paid. That left side of the infield will be a blessing for Giants pitchers.
Matt Chapman, Blake Snell, Jung Hoo Lee, Carlos Rodon, Kevin Gausman, etc. were all pretty “big” signings. Disagree with the contract philosophy and Zaidi obviously never landed the really big fish, but I wouldn’t say he didn’t play at all in that arena.
JH Lee is the only exception. Chapman signed after Buster got involved behind the scenes. Rodon and Gausman were only on short term deals designed to let them bail out after one or two seasons. Farhan was never serious about committing to free agents in any meaningful way.

I’m surprised. I really thought they wanted Kim.
