This would be a great move for the Democrat party! It would allow us to take the majority of both houses most likely and maybe even get enough to do constitutional amendments. Way to go Donald! Thinking things through as usual!

Aside from Ontario and maybe Quebec, is Canada actually all that liberal? I imagine that the other provinces are actually quite conservative. So if we're adding Canada as the 51st state, that's a win for Dems. If we're adding each province individually, Republicans would have a permanent majority.
The Progressive Conservative Party wasn't the same as Maga. The present Conservative Party of Canada is a tent for social conservatives,

MAGA in Canada is roughly equal to the PPP party. But that is as closely as it gets. As for white nationalist fascists, we have tons of those. Sucks. They seem to skew the polls and often vote PC.

I still see this overall as benefitting the Democrat party more so than the Republican. There should be zero debate about that. Canada and politics is super liberal compared to USA.

Canadians vote federally ...generally to the left. Once in awhile right, but liberal federal governments are the norm.
Presidential elections are federal, not state, so voting would be to the left for Presidential elections.

I doubt Canadians want to drop being a Constitutional Monarchy as they are now. I’m Australian & we are much less addicted to the British Crown but Canadians tend to be more pro British Monarchy than we are. I have family in BC. And they all love the Royals.
I guess I’m going from my own Canadian family & extended family there. Maybe it’s more apparent in BC. Or maybe just the older generation. Whatever it is I doubt that most Canadians want to give up free healthcare & have more guns available nor do they want to surrender to Trump & MAGA!

I think you're misreading the tone of the thread. I don't think a single person who has commented in it is pushing for a Canadian annexation (or whatever). We're just commenting on what our soon-to-be supreme leader has most recently word vomited.
Your soon to be supreme leader will have supreme power. Canadian Premiers and the PM are certainly taking Trump's threats seriously and we are fully anticipating that we will get tariffed just for starters. Reminder, nobody thought Trump would win in 2016 and here we go round again.
