Reading the pardon coverage...I don't think the significance of the Gaetz/Patel/Bondi nominations has sunk in. People still aren't getting what a politicized DOJ and FBI, with the power to arrest/bug/harass anyone for any reason, would be able to do.

This was the exact reasoning I have. Even though Hunter was to be sentenced this month it would leave him wide open to a compromised justice system. If trump was appointing apolitical candidates it’d be a whole different discussion.

I feel like screaming, this is exactly what @npr.org was doing this morning on Up First. They were tripping over themselves to talk to any centrist Democrat or Republican willing to savage Biden over it, not ONE WORD about Kash Patel or Matt Gaetz or Pam Bondi. Their names were never said.

From what I can see, they are commenting on it... to accuse Biden of unfairly maligning these future civil servants of potential malignant purpose merely because they are promising to run DOJ and the FBI to extract petty personal revenge. It hurts institutional support in the US which is Bad™.
