I’m sure it’s been written about, but I’d bet the Álvarez absence has played a solid role in all those gaps in City’s midfield. He logged a lot of minutes and has that Joelinton/Havertz quality of doing mop-up duty whenever deeper lanes open up

Pressing and finishing are the two attributes required when we recruit a striker. Alvarez is excellent at both.
I loved Giroud. He was phenomenal both at laying the ball off and winning duels. But both of those characteristics are far less important today than pressing and finishing.
Yeah I noticed Chelsea's team culture fell off after Gallagher left, and Sociedad's defense collapsed without le Normand. Must have taken a True Visionary sporting director to identify and sign away those talents. Right? RIGHT?
