I wasn't there for halo 2 when it released but going back to it on MCC immediately after CE, the jump in gameplay quality is insane. It's so much more fluid, the game still feels so polished today.

Modern FPS controls were actually created by Alien: Resurrection for the PSX in 2000, Halo CE just cemented the “Left Stick=move, Right Stick=aim” scheme as the standard for shooters on controller

Even 3, which wasn’t AS groundbreaking as the first two, still pushed the ball forward with forge, theater, custom game options, and file share.

The file share that had map files, game clips, and screenshots all in one place, still hasn’t really been topped for me. Forge has come a long way though
