Especially in queer romances, this is fucking unheard of. We never get the luxury of seeing where a couple is at years down the line, the story either ends right when they get back together, starts in the middle when they’re already separated, or they’re dead.

No I agree, it hurts real bad but I love seeing them being real. Having actual non-contrived conflict instead of being either perfect syrupy sweetness or explosive misunderstandings like in most fic (don’t get me wrong I love both but…)
