After that purchase I was up to 4 scales of model railroading that I was at least dabbling in. I was able to acquire some indoor-only G scale track, so whenever the floor is clean enough I can run my big train around the living room. 2/2

G scale is fun but takes up a lot of space. I remember the Bachmann “Big Hauler” set I had as a kid took up the whole room if I set up all the track, the train itself was about nine feet long from the tip of the cowcatcher to the rear of the caboose.

That locomotive is a Bachmann "Big Hauler". I almost never set it up, because it takes up so much space. Maybe when the weather warms up I can set up a temporary layout outside, but my track isn't made for permanent outdoor use.

As a small child my great grand parents gave me a battery operated trackless loco almost identical to that one. It made sounds and could be made to emit smoke. It was made of pressed metal and I thought it was terrific. I remember it to this day 🙂
