In my native lanmguage we have a funny saying, totally lost in English, but the deep meaning is "If you want to know somebody, give them an office". But a biggest issue is good governance, when the institutional or corporate systems seem to reward not competent people and punish capable ones.

Years and years ago when I was a school leaver doing an NVQ another bloke on the course twice my age gave me a lift part-way home. He saw a 14-year-old girl walking and pulled over to ask her age. He says he thought she was 22 but... eww? Didn't really want to talk to him again after that.

With men I think age definitely plays a part. There is a desperate urge to recapture youth, some think they should take the opportunities that passed you by/were too naive at the time to take.
They make a move, because of politeness / power / age it’s not harshly rebuffed, this they take as a yes.

Yes. I did think that once I’d posted it. I’m my experience, and it is one sided and maybe rather limited, it happens to women less.
I’ve met plenty of predatory older men, few predatory older women.
