"Associated" = correlated. On average, increased swearing is positively correlated with higher levels of these characteristics. Not a correlation of 1.0 or a 1 to 1 relationship. The positive correlation shows that the negative generalizations are false. 1/2

I like the words, 'can be' Not "is". Those who are of high intelligence Can use profanity for its shock value. It's been my experience; those who swear often are too lazy(underlined) to find the proper words in many circumstances. It's not that they don't possess the vocabulary.
