I wasn’t asking you, specifically. I was asking questions to provoke a little thought because splitting the country would not work like people seem to think. It won’t just cleanly separate.
They somehow figured out a way in the 1860s to decide if each state was part of the Union or the Confederacy. Alaska is an “island state”, they’re surviving, as near as I can tell.
War is never clean. Do you think every person in Germany in 1942 was a committed Nazi? Was everyone in Japan willing to kill and die for the Emperor? There were plenty of people (including Charles Lindbergh and Henry Ford) in the US who supported Hitler and Germany in 1939-1941.
Avoiding the issue does not solve the problem. Ask Germans who put their head down and stayed quiet about their leader in the 1930s, if that protected them from danger.
