Churches within my city end up with an "assessment" for nonsense. My church is assessed over 10k a year on STORM WATER.
The gov still has their hands in our offering plate.

A church only has tax exempt status if it can qualify as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and only on specific revenue that falls under the charitable objective. In other words, even churches which are 501(c)(3)s have to pay taxes on incidental profits.
