Love when a presidential candidate gets winged, 1News has all the time in the world for a deep dive on the history of the Secret Service, but when thousands of Palestinians are killed their memory has a six month lifecycle at best 🙄

Media do adore a singular JFK / Diana style “where were you when you heard” moment. Alas the waiter tripped on the way to the table with this one but they’re sucking up what they can out of the carpet anyway
I'd love to do one of those on US political violence myself. Did theirs start something like 'The US has an exceptionally long and deep history of political violence both from the state and the citizenry, going back to the declaration of independence and through to the present day.' or was it wrong?
Central to my point, not only have US race relations and labour disputes been worked out through the use of widespread organised lethal violence by both the state and ad-hoc private groups, even movie star fandom in the US is displayed by trying to off the President. It is a violent place.
The counter culture is, of course also reflective of this. You don't need to dig very deep into the history of San Fran in the late 60s to find numerous subgroups in dispute about who exactly needs to be murdered to start the age of Aquarius or whatever
