It remains eye-opening that people are much more concerned by being asked to wear a mask and look after their own kids for a few weeks than by the hundreds of millions chronically ill and tens of millions dead

“A few weeks” in the UK, perhaps. Kids were physically out of school for 18 months in NYC. The equation still works out the same (or would, had the rest of the societal response been of use), but trivializing that burden doesn’t help your case.
besides that ur trying to compare kids that couldnt go to in person classes for a few months to kids who have been bed bound from long covid for 5 years.
this is a lie. nyc was back open to in person learning after the summer for those who wanted their children to attend in person classes. many chose to keep their children in online learning.
Hey I agree, but looking after one's kids is literally incompatible with working a separate full time job for a lot of us, and yeah it's way longer than a few weeks. Can only be done with a real safety net / policy interventions that look out of reach now
