I knew Leelah on Tumblr. I was devastated when it all happened…. I used to have to drive through that area and I would break down in tears each time.

Yeah, it's very sad. I think there's an adopt a highway sign there still in her memory. Local media all used the correct pronouns when they were covering it which made me happy. A lot of the comments....not so much.

When I was still in the area, we would organize a highway cleanup day every year in her honor. I’ve been gone from the area for a few years, so I don’t know if they still do it now.
