You are correct. The point of encryption is to maintain precise confidentiality. Once you accidentally include someone who shouldn't be included, it will be like your grandmother's "reply to all", making the encryption invalid and the confidentiality meaningless.

There is no NCO or Officer in the US Military that would not have been aware that texting on a text chain on Signal was not secure. No one with any care about our military would ever, ever, have done what this leadership did.

Agreed our government has much better communication equipment and encryption than signal and quite frankly they were pretty naive for using signal. It's a matter of safety that needs to be addressed. Somebody needs to held accountable for these actions personally i hope it's hegseth and waltz

It should be noted that software whose source code is publicly available and can be freely used, modified, and shared. It's not approved means for coordinating an attack. I'm not trying to give elon any credit, but he would have been able to tell them that. Encryption is only as good as its software
