Earlier this month in the aftermath of the Scottish budget The Times commissioned a poll from Norstat (formally Panelbase) on Scottish independence and found a significant six percent jump to 54% ‘Yes’ when asked the question ‘Should Scotland be an independent country?’

As it happens, Believe in Scotland have always used Norstat as our polling provider and we had a poll of our own going at the same time with the same panel of respondents. However, we asked questions around specific messages and policy areas so we could test how they impact on base indy support.

That would be a question for the Scottish people AFTER Indy. One reason for retaining the monarchy for a short time after indy (like Ireland did) is that we could retain the £ till we get our own currency sorted out. It's not Starmer's face on the money.

No, it is a vote loser. I am not a monarchist but can live with it as long as no constitutional power and treated exactly the same as every other taxpayer, no special privilage. We have to accept that many have a fondness for monarchy and respect that.

The Scottish People are Sovereign.
Come Scottish Independence there should in fact the people would demand a referendum on whether they want a Monarchy or a Republic.
By taking the decision out of politicians hand's the ruling is beyond dispute.
That is fair, equitable and democratic.

What's important is that whether we are a republic or a monarchy is a choice we, the Scottish people, can make as a normal independent nation. We don't have to decide now, but we will keep our options open.
