Honestly I'm more of a contemplate and choose my words carefully kind of guy. I'll sit on a poem and edit over and over, looking up associations of words so that every word carries its full weight and echos other decisions I've made throughout the poem. Idk how to just yap for the algorithm.

Well, some times the beets aren't beeting. I've struggled with root vegetables so far but they're some of my favorites so I'll keep trying. If you have any tips for growing root vegetables, I'd love to hear them. #gardening #beets #homegardener #growyourownfood

Exciting news! 🌱I’m starting an apprenticeship with Urban Harvest in May 🌱I’m starting a masters degree program in resilient and sustainable food systems at UW stevenspoint in the fall. 🌱My home garden is gardening and building up an apothecary of fun foraged products and herbs that I grew.

So the Georgia chicken farming industry has already SHUT DOWN due to bird flu, and the new administration has made moves to make it clear they are aren’t going to do anything to address it. So it’s going to get worse. I’m sure that will definitely lower the price of eggs.

Update on my surgery experience: I just got off the phone with the faculty manager and she was very open to getting an outside educator to address the situation. Not just for the one surgical center I was at, but the 50 she oversees and possibly the 500 that the company oversees across the nation.

Hard day today for trans folks, and many other folks too. Hold your loved ones close, they can’t legislate away our passion and inner knowing. We take care of each other, that’s how we get through this.

I’d been off TikTok for a hot minute to just spend less time online, but the positive benefits to so many folks are undeniable. It seems likely it will get brought back, but I worry how it will change under new management, and under this new regime.

Two personal sustainability goals for this year: 1) Go plants based-ish. I’ll cook vegan for myself and others (barring medical dietary needs) but in the company of others, I’ll eat what’s served to me. 2) Quit vaping. I’m annoyed at myself for starting in the first place.

Is there any harm in starting some of my seeds early? My gardening calendar says to wait until Feb for my Brussel sprouts, eggplant, peppers, etc but I’m excited about seeing them grow and want to get them started now. #gardening

I filed a HIPAA complaint and sent an email to the faculty manager about the nurse making a scene at my surgery. I’m prepared for the possibly that I won’t personally see any results, and I believe every bit of advocacy matters. 1/2

Thinking about maybe starting grad school to learn how to do systems change work, maybe in the food system? I used to be a scientist, but it didn’t work out. For a while I thought I wasn’t smart enough to affect change. But I’m getting back to it in a different way!

Well now I’m thinking about trying to have a mediated, restorative convo with the nurse that shouted my medical info down the hallway and made a huge stink out of me being trans. Am I crazy for thinking there’s a way to foster humanity and compassion from this situation?

I signed up for a canning workshop in March. I have an info session for a graduate program in resilient food systems that I’m interested in starting in the fall. And I just started my first seeds for my garden yesterday. This year is going to be the year I shift my focus to food security.

I got my tubes tied on Thursday, I’ve known it was something I wanted but I was afraid of recovery time and encountering issues being a man getting this surgery. I DID run into some resistance from staff, but I’m recovering well and I stood up for myself against the resistance. I did it!
