I get the professionalism of abbreviating "AF," but let's really consider abbreviating the whole phrase: WAF. And yes, democracy means that we don't have to make WAF happen if people want to stick with saying "Woke AF" ... ... but consider it. Strongly. Better question: Why not WAF?

For your questions that others might deem "judgment calls," if it can be answered by a number, you have an Ultimate Question by default. Refer to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which gives you an answer of 42.

#Writers of the #WritingCommunity, can we get in the same lane for advising that some aspiring writers need to "go outside and touch the grass"? I know: ambiguity makes for good diversity of outcomes. BUT having both the smell outside my window AND a bunch of kneeling writers to trip over...

Definitely support on Reddit for just #writing with or without "kill[ing] your darlings" ... not so much in the BlueSky #writingcommunity. But #writers (prepares shielding from thrown objects), what about gaining #exposure?

One of the greatest treasures is a book that just writes itself. While it's doing that, move onto a project that is having trouble writing itself.

Question today: creating names that don't match real life. Chances are, they don't exist anymore - don't worry. Otherwise, use the "pokemon method": Slam your keyboard twice, add vowels until pronounceable. Other-otherwise, every character is an anagram of your name. #Writing #WritingCommunity

Wild twist for the series finale of Humanity - we really were created to write and, because somebody finally created the perfect novel ever written for our creators' culture, humanity is no longer necessary.

In this moment, I feel today's prompt took an unnecessarily (and hopefully unintentional) anti-Pride turn. Anyway, finding a birdsong...

Perfect dimensions for this pencil. Any larger would just be overcompensating for something.

Straightening record: "Just writing" isn't random keyboard slamming, it's stream of consciousness. Maybe not full thoughts or sentences. But expression pushing to flow out your fingers. Reading Ulysses is not required - you have your own thoughts to bubble up. Just write. #WritingCommunity #Writers

If Paradise Lost were written too much earlier, it would have brushed off as a fanfiction. Don't get me wrong. Fanfics can be great, but you want people to think it's an original. Most often - just like Paradise Lost - you want to publish when most people have stopped reading the original.

Whenever someone wants to only hear good feedback and cannot handle hearing negative feedback, I offer to deliver my notes via interpretive dance.

If I say tomorrow, I might hire a ghostwriter to do however much of a novel, nobody panics because it's all part of the plan. But if I tell them the ghostwriter's name is ChatGPT, well then, everyone loses their minds. Upset the order, and everything becomes chaos.

To those facing existential dread, asking whether they need readers to be called a "writer". Nobody disputes that a tree falling in the forest is still a fallen tree. The question is whether it made a sound. If nobody read your masterpiece, you're still a writer. The question is whether you wrote.

Please break writing "lessons", all of them. Reading for what fiction "should be" trains and limits your mind to an artificial intelligence. Always beginning with your protagonist, always establishing your time and place and stakes is expected, unless you toss it up. Trust chaos, or don't.

Just write, they say. Write what? Well, I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill off your character.
