Hello Gardening Friends, Sometimes you forget how pretty it is, where you live.🌱 It seems like this week everything green'd up. And, all of a sudden some trees have leaves. It's a smokey morning from local fires and a North wind. Pics are my walk, West towards the golf course. Have a lovely day.

Consumers indulge in the convenience of buying fresh flowers online or at a big-box store, but @toughcitywriter.bsky.social knows the industry has a dark sideβ€”our love of florals is leaving a heavy environmental mark on the planet. thewalrus.ca/rebels-with-a-va...

Hello gardening friends, The raised beds are coming along. This past weekend, I installed the posts and got the beds mostly done. I had to stop because the yard wasn't square, and my OCD brain couldn't handle the view from my office. 🌱 It needs a little tweaking. Enjoy your day.

Hello Gardening Friends, The Forsythia sp. are putting on show. I pass by this small hedge on my morning walk and am glad I didn't miss them over the weekend. Hot and windy here today. 🌱 Happy Monday.

Hello Gardening Friends, Here is a pic I shared 10 years ago of Giverny in the spring looking like AI. 🌱 I'm not the biggest fan of Iris's, but in this garden, they just belong. If I could tour one garden in the spring, this would be it. What would yours be? Have a great day.

Hello Gardening Friends, Things are starting to bud-out in my neck of the woods. One of my favourite spring blooming shrubs is Forsythia sp. These ones are along my daily morning walking route and I look forward to watching them unfurl each spring. 🌱. Have a great day.

Hello Gardening Friends, I love containers with unconventional plantings, they come across as looking wild. 🌱 This to me looks like a Black Scabiosa, Maltese Cross and Dill. Thoughts? Have a great day. Pic via Pinterest

Hello Gardening Friends, In the winter I found a box of tulip bulbs and decided on a whim to pot them up. 🌱 They are looking pretty good. I am away for a final weekend and then it is 'Get Serious About the Garden' time. Happy Friday.

Hello Gardening Friends, I decided a Pinterest share was going to happen today. I am calculating my lumber and soil order for the raised beds and trying hard to resist the urge to buy trees. Sometimes a pretty picture of a garden is just what I need. 🌱 Have a great day

Hello Gardening Friends, I shared some photos of my trip to Curacao with my brother and remembered this giant urn planter at the Grand CafΓ© Gouverneur De Rouville. 🌱 I remember thinking, 'If only I could put that in my checked luggage.' πŸ˜‚ Have a great day.

Hello Gardening Friends, Coffee is on and I am itching to get out and continue my raised bed garden. It might be 6c and 6am, but I have had so few weekends at home and this early bird is eager for a worm. 🌱 Happy Easter.

Hello Gardening Friends, My neighbor is leaf blowing rather than raking. 🌱 So annoying.

Hello Gardening Friends, My friend has these daily positivity cards a few years back and one evening I popped in for a glass of wine and it was about philodendrons. 🌱 Have a great day. Keep killin' it.

Hello Gardening Friends, I found this in my bookface memories, as a post I shared at the height of COVID telling people they needed hobbies and not to be afraid to suck at something new. I still believe that and highly recommend gardening. 🌱

Hello Gardening Friends, Six years ago I had my aloe bloom for the first time and many people who grow them indoors were surprised. It has bloomed every year since. The spring previous, I transplanted it from a small 15cm diameter pot to an 8 litre one and it grew ginormous. It's still a beast.

Hello Gardening Friends, This weekend I plan to re-measure the raised beds I started last fall for my mixed garden and order the lumber. 🌱 Tomorrow promises to be 18c and finally a Saturday at home. What are your garden plans for the weekend? Have a great Friday.

Hello Gardening Friends, Here is a pic of the pool side plantain/banana growing at my Airbnb in Curacao, even showing some fruit. I was amazed by what seemed to grow effortlessly. Much like Burdock or Devils Grass here. Enjoy your day.

Hello Gardening Friends, I have added to my houseplant collection a Majesty Palm (Ravenea rivularis), 🌱 inspired by my recent trip to the Caribbean. I needed to move things around to make some room, but she fits like an old glove. Have a great day.

Hello Gardening Friends, As I contemplated rolling down Mount Christoffel, these masses of Aloe stuck in my mind. 🌱 What a lovely natural setting. I can imagine them all in bloom. I thought it would be more lush here, but it is very arid, except for the humidity. Enjoy your day.

Hello Gardening Friends, I hiked (ahem, scaled) Mount Christoffel earlier this week and spied, bromeliads, cacti, ficus, ferns, air plants and one lonely little orchid, Brassavola nodosa (orkidia blanku), which typically blooms from November to January and I feel lucky to have spied her. 🌱

Hello Gardening Friends, I am on the island of Curacao in the Carribean and my plant nerd self is so excited to see some houseplants plants growing happily in a natural environment. This beautiful Hibiscus is climbing a 4m wall. Have a lovely day. 🌱

Hello Gardening Friends, I am off on an adventure and spied this beautiful green wall as I was connecting to my hotel shuttle. 🌱 I love that more and more places are doing stuff like this. More to share on my adventures later. Have a great day.

Hello Gardening Friends I needed to share another inspiring entry this morning. Last evening, was such a beautiful spring evening, it had me itching to get out the planters. Alas, Mother Nature, as she often does, is saying 'Not so fast, you get snow tomorrow.' Have a great day. 🌱

Hello Gardening Friends, I don't know whose front door this is, but I can imagine how happy they would be coming home every day. I love people who garden without a garden. 🌱 Enjoy your day.

Hello Gardening Friends, As I transition away from my acreage to a town sized yard, I am curious of ways to have a temporary greenhouse for spring, using my raised beds. The structure choice between a sauna or greenhouse was not made lightly. 🌱 Have a great day.

Hello Gardening Friends, This beautiful pic caught my eye this morning. Another reminder to me that Spring has officially arrived and the white stuff will soon melt away. This looks like Clematis to me. 🌱 Have a great day. Pic by Claus Dalby

Hello Gardening Friends, I am in the midst of false spring. Things are starting to melt and the temps are getting warmer. The town yard is still snow covered but my raised beds are showing. I am dreaming of green like the pic below and am thinking of how I can include some concrete statuary. 🌱 Enjoy

Hello Gardening Friends, I have this space in front of my barn at the farm that has very sandy soil. I ordered California Poppies and am going to overseed the grasses for a bright meadow-like show. Also going to include Flax for a pop of blue. It should be pretty. 🌱 Have a great day.

Hello Gardening Friends, I have this great spot North of my yard that would make a great stumpery garden. 🌱 I imagine it hosting my crocus' and hellebores for a spring show and un-furling to showcase the scraggly stumps covered in ferns and moss. *Sigh* My To-Do list is growing. Pic via Pinterest

Hello Gardening Friends, The pink Geranium (Pelargonium sp.) is always the first to bloom. This variety is 'Elanos Mosaic Pink'. I have recently started growing them because they bloom so early and sometimes through the winter. My small collection is due for a potting-on and some fertilizer. 🌱😍

Hello Gardening Friends, I have always wanted some large terra cotta planters. 🌱 However, living in a climate that has extreme variations in temperature, I am nervous to make the investment. Do they need to be emptied every fall to handle the -35c? What is your experience? Pic via Italian Terrace

Hello Gardening Friends, Happy Friday! This is the part of late Winter where I would be spending alot of time in my greenhouse. I miss it, alot. This weekend is shaping up to be a perfect greenhouse weekend. Here is a pic of when she was at her spring prettiest. 🌱 Have a great day.

Hello Gardening Friends, Decided to take a short course on designing country gardens. 🌱 Although I have heard his name, I was not familiar with the work of Tom Stuart-Smith. Now I am going down a rabbit hole. 😳 Have a great day. This is the garden at Culham Court in Berkshire
