I always come up with the weirdest hobby projects. I’ve been thinking a lot the last week or two about what it would be like to build a high side network that allows specific wireguard connections but otherwise nothing else to the internet. Would it even be possible?

I published my weekly retro late last night, but in it I ramble on about how much I enjoy unfucking things and goes much I appreciate my current role because of it. Also, smart outlets for home energy monitoring. 0xda.de/blog/2025/03...

I wonder if I can convince my lawyer to write my formal meeting minutes in a github repo with signed commits. I'm going to go with no, but damn wouldn't it be nice.

I'm glad there's something out there for people who love Studio Ghibli films, but also hate art, imagination and goodness.

My 8th Protocol episode is out! This one is all about the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, or SMTP. I spent a lot of time figuring out what to animate to make visualize the lifecycle of an email, and learned several new editing tricks. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR9h...

I’m not saying PGP was great, I’m just saying I haven’t seen any articles in The Atlantic about journalists accidentally receiving secret war plans over PGP encrypted email.

I'm building a lot of boilerplate (at side hustle), ripping out tens of thousands of lines of dead code (at work), and spent more time than I care to admit trying to shave 2 seconds off my website build time. 0xda.de/blog/2025/03...

Episode 7 of Protocol is out - I talk about my favorite protocol, Secure Shell, or SSH. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFcW...

My fifth PROTOCOL video is out! An intro to Hypertext Transfer Protocol. Trying to provide a high level intro to a protocol with as much depth as HTTP was difficult, as was trying out new editing techniques. But HTTP is a protocol that will get many more videos. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUnJ...

I’ve noticed a trend, and even done it myself a time or two, but… One of the most insufferable parts of the rise of LLMs is people who see a post or a question or whatever, paste it into an LLM, and the respond with “I asked an LLM” and paste the output.

It’s painful that he could have had a bigger net benefit on the federal budget if he just paid his taxes instead of putting thousands of public servants out of jobs and destroying the country. If I was ever that wealthy and that big of a bitch, I’d construct the guillotine myself.
