"People are frightened": Sweeping job cuts by President Convicted Felon hit South #Florida national parks www.wlrn.org/environment/... via @jenstaletovich.bsky.social

READ: Saving the oceans can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task, but if we all pitch in, we can make a big difference. While there are countless ways you can make a difference, here are our top 10 ways you can help save the oceans 👉 https://buff.ly/4hPktDp

NOAA is in the Trump administration's crosshairs. You know the important work they do, but may now know that It's the descendant of the Coast Survey, the nation's first scientific agency, founded in 1807 under Jefferson. I spoke with maritime historians to put NOAA's legacy in context. 🧪🦑🌎🐟

someone once asked me why I was so worried about the environment I just said "I live there" and they looked at me as if that fact had never once occurred to them

National parks are more than just environmental preserves. They tend to be a major tourist attraction and thus economic drivers for their communities.

🧵 @noaa.gov is an essential agency for so many reasons—just one being how much it prepares and supports communities in the face of hurricanes and extreme weather events. Here’s how... ⤵️ #TheMoreYouNOAA

NOAA Matters on a Global Scale we must advocate for them, and do everything we can to protect NOAA.

Tar balls and red tide in Florida and fires and atmospheric rivers in California. Great time to gut America’s leading ocean and weather agency. 🙄 The US ocean economy is ~$500 billion and supports > 1.2 million jobs. NOAA’s budget $6-7 billion #defendNOAA

America's lead ocean agency is at risk. From weather forecasting to ocean and coastal protections, Americans rely on NOAA's vital services every day to help us plan for natural disasters, reduce the impacts of pollution, and protect marine wildlife.

Lucky to be in the lovely state that is surrounded by water! The Atlantic Ocean is on one Side, and the Gulf of Mexico is on the other! Apple and Google appear to be confused, so be sure to report it as incorrect, you have to select Something Else for some reason👀!

(1 of 6) JUST IN: Raging wildfires, Arctic blast struck the U.S. last month. #January 2025 was the nation’s 6th driest on record. More: bit.ly/3CKEdc3 @climate.noaa.gov

Yes

NEW: @noaa.gov offices have been asked to search their grants for climate-related keywords, among other executive order-related terms. This could put climate grant-funding in the crosshairs if/once the judicial order holding the funding freeze back is lifted. www.axios.com/2025/02/09/n...

Finally got to take some good photos of my new Green Sea Turtle Sticker!✨ #seaturtle #oceanart

Most of this #Florida beach has been closed because of an oil slick. The Coast Guard is investigating the cause. www.sun-sentinel.com/2025/02/08/m...

If you want to see the video you may do so here! youtu.be/4wH878t78bw?... Share it, so everyone can remember one of the big reason these bans/changes occurred. There are alternatives for single use straws, and the do indeed work. And BTW, Paper Straws are not the only answer (tho they can work!).

Weather is global and does not recognize international borders. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Ocean Lover Here, so last year I read a fabulous book called My Life With Sea Turtles by Christine Figgener. In 2015 she was apart of the video, where researchers pulled a plastic straw out of a Sea Turtles nostril. The video went viral, which lead to straw bans around the world.

This is just beyond infuriating. We can’t let this happen!

🧬New discovery! A groundbreaking eDNA study from our expedition with @Blancpain1735 in California’s Channel Islands has detected over 11,000 unique species including thousands of species potentially undescribed by science. 🌊 Dive into the findings: https://oceana.ly/4hqyJlU

So so so wrong.

Lets be clear about America and energy. 1. We produce more oil & gas than any other nation already. 2. More production will not reduce prices. 3. Outdoor recreation on public lands and waters produce more money and jobs than oil and gas by 14x.

Mangrove ecosystems play many important roles that benefit coastal communities, biodiversity, & our planet. 🌏 That's why Oceana campaigns in the Philippines to create national law that will protect & restore the country's mangrove forests! #WorldWetlandsDay

The Valentines Collection is officially in the shop! ✨ It’s a lil out of my comfort zone (filled with puns), but the cards are really cute! Hope you like them too🩵 creatoriq.cc/3PXf3er #oceanart #valentine #ocean

Even during challenging times, we must keep fighting for strong policies protecting nature. And now, more than ever, we need people like you to use your voice to speak up for nature! Learn how you can be an advocate for nature: www.nature.org/en-us/about-...

So excited to see NOAA Climate on here! If you aren’t already following NOAA Climate, you probably should!😀

Truly. Honestly, month would suffice at this point.

So excited that the @nws.noaa.gov is here! Now we need the NHC, and all of the NWS for particular cities! 👏🏼✨

So thankful to live in a world with Dogs!🩵 I feel like we can all agree, dogs/cats, or really any pet make daily life so much better!🩵
