Conservative MPs Want to Scrap Workers’ Rights to Paid Holiday and Annual Leave They are also seeking to overturn workplace protections from sexual harassment, calling them an attack on “free speech” bylinetimes.com/2024/12/17/c...

After great success selling Mr Trump’s perfume in the village shop, Jill has a new range of fragrances: Kemi Badenoch’s ‘Moisture.’ ‘Gam Mon’ by Farage. ‘Somme’ eau de toilette from Lee Anderson. Greg Wallace’s cologne ‘Cock et Tits.’ Not forgetting Liz Truss’s perfume ‘Trickledown.’

Democracy dies when billionaires buy elections. Musk’s touted $100m to Reform shows why our parties and elections law need urgent updating. Natacha Kennedy reports

This is not an ordinary intervention. A safeguarding review into an entire state school over allegations of decades of emotional abuse of children. Hopefully will signal a change in how schools discipline kids. Labour were right to scrap one word inspections - the school is rated 'outstanding'!

“All donations that originate from abroad, no matter who is the final donor, should be banned. Only UK citizens should be allowed to donate to British political organisations. This would, by necessity mean no donations from private companies; PLCs, LTDs, whatever.”

Posting here a bit late; People came to the Georgian parliament building after marches and protests across the entire Tbilisi since morning: “We resist repressions” “Disobedience against repressive regime”, banners read. Day 16th of nonstop, nationwide Georgian protests.

On this day in 2019: Caption of the Century, in The Washington Post:

Thames Water customers risk paying £263 a year extra to rescue firm. Serial offender, dumped sewage for decades, neglected investment, borrowed to pay dividends. Now wants customers to bail it out. They will own nothing. Let it go bust. Nationalise at nominal cost www.mirror.co.uk/money/thames...

Extraordinary story from BBC Panorama, which claims Severn Trent Water has invented a £1.68bn “asset”, and is paying out more in dividends than it’s making in profit… www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

352 episodes of Question Time with 1734 guest slots, filled by 661 people. While researchers found that the BBC had “broadly balanced” appearances from representatives of the UK’s main political parties, when it came to members of the media a right-wing bias became evident

British Non Dom’s and foreign billionaires owning our press was bad enough. Now an American one is dictating what questions the Prime Minister is asked on This Morning. Insane and hideously depressing state of affairs

I love this.

'Fury' as man who knows nothing about farming, sold farmers down the river with Brexit then hijacked their protest to shit-stir and get on TV to further his own grift isn’t allowed to make a speech.

Remember all those endless stories about the 'scandal' of Labour making political appointments to temporary civil service posts after the election? Well a new independent Civil Service Commission report finds that such appointments were "considerably" higher under the last Conservative government.

Jeremy Clarkson, who owes his fame & fortune in large part to the BBC, sneers at the brilliant @vicderbyshire.bsky.social for being ‘classic BBC’ when she uses *his own words* to describe his position.

🤔 I wonder if the Daily Mail owner’s 4,700 acres in Dorset has in any way influenced this front page.

The news that people inheriting land worth at least £1 million will have to pay tax on it has drawn significantly more outrage from politicians and the press than the news that 1 in 3 children in Britain are now living in poverty…

On Monday we learnt that 1 in 3 children are living in poverty… And that deprivation has hit a record high Given their new found compassion for struggling Brits Where’s Jeremy Clarkson, Nigel Farage and Andrew Lloyd Webber to fight their corner? …anywhere?

🔴Jeremy Clarkson, James Dyson and Junk Stats: Is This the Best the Anti-Inheritance Tax Farming Lobby Has to Offer? Millionaire landowners are using dubious statistics to campaign against the Government’s inheritance tax reforms, reports @josiah.writes.news bylinetimes.com/2024/11/19/j...

for some reason I’ve remembered what Jeremy Clarkson, who said he bought land to avoid inheritance tax, said on live TV about striking public sector workers (extra marks for use of ‘us’)

Both in the news today for differing reasons. Michael Sheen who remortgaged his house to fund the Homeless World Cup, Jeremy Clarkson who bought a farm to evade tax.

With new figures showing that more than one in three children in the UK are now living in poverty, with deprivation hitting a record high, it's good to see the Times focusing on the people who are really struggling

Conservative MP Alex Burghart, whose leader stood on a stage yesterday to defend Jeremy Clarkson and James Dyson's right to hang on to their multimillion pound inheritances, now furiously complaining about the Government handing pay rises to public sector workers.

Isn’t this cosy? Badenoch and the pompous Clarkson foghorn having a fireside chat about how the Tories will help tax-dodging wealthy landowners like him. God knows what she thinks her own govt did to *all* our communities, including rural ones. Or to the public services that our taxes pay for.

Important context here: ● over half of farms are less than 49 acres (20 hectares) ● "a big farm" is 217 acres. Now let's see who's angry: ● Clarkson farm is 1,000 acres ● Lloyd Webber farms 4,000 acres ● Viscount Rothermere (Mail owner) 4,700 acres ● Dyson owns 36,000 acres

Left: Claire Hanna, "Brexit didn't just happen to sausages" Right: Your reminder that David Frost and Boris Johnson negotiated a Brexit deal which did't allow England, Wales or Scotland to export sausages/meats to NI. Then they blamed the EU for following the rules they negotiated

Coming to any photo opportunity at any time you’ll have ‘em The new Tory B*llox Band From left to right Close my Companies while they owe HMRC Philps Claim Anything I Can McVey How Did I End Up As A Minister Atkins And band leader … KemiKaze BadEnough

Narrator voice: “Little did he know…”

Please spare a thought for James Dyson, the Brexit-voting billionaire who bought up 33,000 acres of farmland to avoid tax then moved his business to Singapore. He's the real victim here.

Victoria Derbyshire nails Jeremy Clarkson over his Inheritance Tax scam. Hilarious to watch him squirm.

If you bring central London to a halt in order to campaign against catastrophic climate change then you're a "barmy" eco "fanatic" who deserves to be locked up. If you do the same to hang on to your multimillion pound inheritance tax exemption then you're a brave freedom fighter defying the odds

🔴The Elephant in the Room is that Brexit Has Made Britain a Much Poorer Place The unspoken truth of Rachel Reeves’ Budget was that leaving the EU has left Britain permanently worse off, writes @adambienkov.bsky.social bylinetimes.com/2024/10/30/b...

Umm. This is like first day at school. I’ve joined up

Bluesky let’s see if we can find each other! I used to speak to almost 300,000 people on that terrible place formerly known as Twitter, about the NHS. Where are you? If you’re here, follow me and share this, and I’ll follow you back!! 💙💙💙 Ju xx

As the Trump reality hardens into something world-threateningly grim with a cabinet chock full of dangerously vindictive inadequates; including power-abusing billionaires, sex pests, conspiracy theorists, Russian assets, racists and climate deniers… Never forget who cheered this nightmare on…

Incredible, how casually Kuenssberg skates over the fact she got the facts flat-out wrong in her framing of the opening question, in order to make a hostile editorial point. Just presses on, as if a minister having to put her right on basic inaccuracies is an ordinary part of any BBC interview.

Supply chains are why Trump's view of world trade is - like that of the Brexit ultras - outdated. This is where a lot of DC lobbying efforts will be going, to show how US manufacturing will be weakened if his plans go ahead.

How could the police drop this case? Especially with his history? “For five minutes I listened and recorded as he masturbated, calling out my first name, using vulgar language to say “suck my [penis]” and making other obscene and lewd comments about my genitalia.”
