Football in the US is not a meritocracy. Once you see it, not only can you never unsee it, but everything from top to bottom becomes coherent. You can then choose to navigate as you wish, but with eyes wide open. European football with Sheiks buying all the good players is a meritocracy.

Credentialism is idiotic and not the indicator for excellence, and many times even fundamental capability/competence, in a domain. I don't care if you have a coaching license. Some homeless person can be a better soccer coach most professional soccer coaches.
