Really frustrated with CVS today. They’re nearly 3 weeks behind on filling my prescription. If this has anything to do with the stupid EO’s coming out of Washington DC I’ll just scream. It’s a 90 day supply and I’m already rationing. 😭

Carnival Radiance is visiting our little port today. Nearly 3000 passengers! Not sure exactly how many are onboard today but I’m sure our markets and sightseeing spots are busy today.

The MS Koningsdam is visiting us today. This is one of the larger Holland America Line ships with a passenger capacity of 2,650!

Super Yacht Liva°, Hawaiian harbor pilot boat, and Norwegian Pride of America navigating our narrow harbor. Would not want to be the pilot this evening. That’s a lot of expensive boat going on there! They pass close enough to see the gold fittings on the yacht’s rigging. And… everyone makes it! 🥳

Big (Billionaire-sized) Yacht has been hanging out in Hilo Hawaii all day. Looks familiar, I think it was here a while back. Can anyone identify it? It has the tracking information hidden from Marine Tracking, so I can’t ID it.

Norwegian’s Pride of America sailing into port this morning a little after 7:00am island time. That island by our harbor is Mokuola, (aka Coconut Island) and is a big park with buildings. Looks so tiny next to the big cruise ship! Makes the biggest building in town look tiny too.

The Viking Neptune is visiting us on a lazy Sunday. She is a smaller cruise ship with a top capacity of about 930 passengers.

I still have 4 hours left in 2024! Anyone need me to fix anything while I’m back here? How is 2025? Any better there?

Holland America’s Zaandam cruise ship is in the harbor today visiting for Boxing Day. This is a smaller ship with ~1400 passengers. Holland America had three ships in rotation visiting the island before the pandemic. The names all ended with ‘dam’ and we locals called them “those dam boats”.

🌋 Volcano Update 🌋 Pele (the volcano goddess, not the Brazilian footballer) celebrated Christmas today on the island today. Some nice footage and details from the park service: m.youtube.com/watch?v=ciAt...

The Grand Princess pulled into port a little earlier this morning to spread Christmas cheer. *ship horn noise* 😅 She’s a little smaller than the Ruby Princess that visited earlier this week. Here’s the obligatory picture from my lanai.

Norwegian Cruise line’s Pride of America is in port today. 2106 passengers visiting the island on Christmas Eve. I wonder how many will get to see Kilauea’s latest eruption? 🌋

Kilauea Volcano is fountaining again today. Here is a great geologist analysis of last night’s activity. m.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZS4...

Why am I posting about cruise ships I see from my lanai? Mostly because the world is so messed up. Had to stop a few minutes into our President-elect’s speech yesterday. His words were hateful, but the cheers and applause after each vow he made to exterminate minorities pushed me over the edge.

The volcano is really active today, but showers are nature’s air scrubber! Here is a picture of the Princess Cruise Line’s Ruby Princess docked at our little Hawaiian town. Around 3000 passengers enjoying the day at our museums, galleries, and farmers market. We hope they enjoy their visit!

Photo of the Viking Ocean Voyages company Viking Neptune cruise ship nestled into our cozy little port taken from my lanai today.

Norwegian Cruise Lines MS Pride of America is visiting my little town today! It’s a regular for us and the crew does their safety drill at our port. Here is a photo from my lanai this morning:

Learning Amigurumi in my copious spare time. Do not expect anything for Christmas! I’m not that fast. 😅
