Just a thing trying to write its first book. Will be documenting the process and whatever else comes to mind with this account.

Music is so incredibly important to helping me concentrate on writing and keep to the tone/style I'm looking for. I built up a playlist of songs that fit a very dramatic bardic style a while ago, and it's so useful listening to it while I write. #writing #writesky

Cormac McCarthy's stance on punctuation is kind of beautiful. I don't really agree with it, but I love that he just decided how he wanted to write and went for it. I don't think it's everyone can get away with and lends itself toward a specific style, but is cool nonetheless. #writing #writesky

I should definitely get back to drawing once I've finished writing this thing. I think it'd be fun to do proper concept pieces for each of the characters and post them here with a bit of a breakdown on who they are.

A QUESTION FOR THE WRITERS OF BSKY: The main antagonist of your latest story has decided you are now their #1 greatest enemy. How are you faring? #writesky #writing #writers

I've written too little the last few days, work has been so overbearing. But that has given me a lot of time to think about the finer details of the ending and finally decide on whose pov the new chapter one will take. #writing #writesky

I branched out onto having a writing account on former bird app, and god is it a different vibe over there. It's not totally awful, but bsky's writing community definitely feels a lot more chill.

It's a sensation that I have to kick, but every time I finish a chapter I'm always left with this feeling of emptiness. I kind of just assume what I've probably just written isn't as good as it seemed while I was writing it and I'm left in a kind of sour state. #writesky #writing

There are two wolves inside me. One wants all of my characters to live happy and solve all of their problems quickly and efficiently. The other wants my characters to suffer immensely and fail a ton because it's good for their growth. ...yes, I ship my wolves. #writing #writesky

I think I just wrote my favourite chapter so far. I'll have to go over it again and do touch ups, but it has the stuff I'm most proud of so far. Getting to this point further into writing lets me really push the characters to the brink, and that's my favourite shit to do. #writing #writesky

I probably lean toward character-first. Typically that's what I envision first, and then that births the plot, which in turn creates more characters, and around and around it goes until the world is filled.

I constantly have to remind myself not to edit so much as I'm going. There'll be plenty of time to do it after draft 1 is done, and at that point it'll be easier to keep everything succinct with the full story complete. At least I already know what I'm looking to fix and change #writesky #writing

Nearing 50k words and I'm thinking I'll wind up going over my original goal. I don't think I'll hope for 120,000, but it is seeming more likely at this point. I'll have a better idea once I've gotten past the big "act 2" battle I have planned. #writing #writesky

Thirteenth chapter done, my longest one yet. I'm realising how much I enjoy writing weird metaphysical magic crap, because it's turned up in everything I've written so far.

The biggest thing I've come across is fear that I'm writing too little. I'm aiming for 100k words, so technically I'm almost halfway. But I only have a little over 100 pages Could be a formatting issue, though I thought I fixed that. But ultimately the word count is a better measure than page count

HELLO people of BSKY My name is AJ Anderson and I have been hit with the sudden and consuming urge to write a novel. Though I have done a fair bit of writing in the past, I've never fully knuckled in and decided to write a full book. But a few weeks ago I decided to give in and get started.
