Although, of course, I celebrated when the final buzzer sounded at the end of Game 5 of the NBA Finals, it was Pritchard's buzzer beater to close the first half that told me the Celtics were going to be the champs. #PritchPlease

Now that's some schaden I can really freude.

Looking for a PhD position? Come work with me! 🤩 In this PhD project, you will study how decisions in medicine (at the intensive care) can be improved using tools like algorithmic advice in both academic and hospital settings. Talking Dutch is a plus! 😊 www.academictransfer.com/en/jobs/3514...

It’s past time we legalize marijuana federally, expunge records, & end the War on Drugs. On 4/20 & every day, let’s remember that cannabis justice is racial, economic, & restorative justice.

From here until the conclusion of the NBA finals, I will be an insufferable Celtics homer. #Banner19 #LFG youtube.com/shorts/VulRl...

Tonight is the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s midnight ride. May his memory remind us all to resist the tyranny forming in our government.

The resemblance is striking. Buttercup finished her first week as a working dog and was very supportive :) 10/10

Petaluma, California does *not* fuck around with Butter & Eggs Days. Petaluma has a rich agricultural history and was long known as the egg capital of the U.S. These are collapsible chairs, chained together and fastened to a street sign for the parade that starts in 26 hours!

I think a lot abt how marginalized people are expected to be perfect just to be treated w/ basic dignity, just to access legal protection. But democracy can’t mean rights for the respectable few. It has to mean fair and just treatment even for those seen as least deserving. That’s the real test.

Or you could just be kind to people different from you.

Between this and the cubic millimeter image, I mean, complexity is an easy enough word to say, but, man...

From Peter Soyster's dissertation: "Thirty-six percent of respondents stated that they were high while completing the survey, with 7.69% stating they were moderately to extremely high."

After two years as the athletic director for the Sonoma-Marin Boys and Girls Club, my wife started as the Recreation Supervisor for the City of Petaluma Parks and Rec department. It has thus become completely inexcusable that she has never seen Parks and Rec.

Please say hello to my new emotional support pup, Princess Buttercup.

We don't "need more babies." Babies are living, breathing, feeling wonders born of living, breathing, feeling people, raised by people. None of them are widgets and none of them owe it to the economy to exist, not the babies, not the pregnant people, not the caretaking community and family.

I have avoided red eye flights since 2008. I know the year, because I remember the trip when I swore I would pay any price to avoid red eyes. Well, I'm flying red eye to D.C. for APS and then another red eye to Brussels for SAA *2 days* later. Oh, and I have talks on both arrival days. So much fun!!

If you didn't understand my Game Changer post yesterday, you should sign up for a Dropout free trial and check it out.

Bravo UBC Reopening their applications for US grad student applicants who want to come to Canada. Nice to see this www.grad.ubc.ca/us-applicant...

Game Changer is back! (but I've been here the whole time)

Does a universal law govern how thing evolve over time to create ever more complexity? And does this mean the future is unpredictable, even in principle, from the present? I explore these ideas in my latest piece for Quanta. www.quantamagazine.org/why-everythi...

Currently totally obsessed with Remi Wolf's Big Ideas. Shimmery, funky pop with harmonic complexity. Chef's kiss.

I am thrilled to share this call for papers with you at the Journal of Psychopathology and Clinical Science. @cassie-boness.bsky.social and I, alongside @aidangcw.bsky.social, are looking for proposals on the science and practice of behavioral addictions research. www.apa.org/pubs/journal...

Add this to the list of reasons I'm grateful that my trans child is headed to the University of Vermont. #GoCatamounts

Every day is a good day to fight for trans rights.
