The Castlevania anime makes me so mad because visually it’s amazing, but I immediately get taken out by their need to slip into edgy, “home movies with my friends in high school” dialogue. They use “shit” and “fuck” like sentence enhancers, but it’s just manchild writing.

I watched and understood the themes of “The Whale” to the best of my ability and still thought Sadie Sink’s character was too repugnant. Took me out of it a little bit. I know she’s supposed to be jaded and a lil’ toughie, but there was no more cathartic moment that the mom saying she was vile.
