Don't want to put this fellow on blast, but I do want to talk about this perspective, because I think it is mostly wrong. Because of course in practice a government has access to a lot more 'guys,' if - and only if - the political will to mobilize them exists. Imposing friction has hard limits. 1/

everything is terrible and we need joy along with resistance, and we need queer joy more than ever this #PrideBookFair so check out this fantastic collection of books, including my book! #romancelandia #booksky #QueerAdultSFF 🌈 📚 books.bookfunnel.com/queerromance...

I've shared this before, and I'll share it again because it's such a good resource. Sour cream authors (like me), if you want tips for writing skin color descriptions that are different from your own, check out this blog. writingwithcolor.tumblr.com/post/9683096... It has helped me immensely.

Talmud-inclined friends, in a book I read yesterday, the author mentioned that the Talmud prohibits interrupting the prayer of an idolater because, without knowing it, they too are praying to HaShem. Anyone knows where that’s discussed?

Finally seeing the other retailers start to pop up for "Jade Evergreen and the Perils of Polybius" - here's Kobo! www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/...

Leonora Carrington: tea spoons and jelly spoons Carrington: i'm going to tell you about something i know nothing about Carrington: one sunny night two dead boys woke up to face each other back to back Carrington: if you don't believe me, ask the blind man Carrington: he saw it

It is good and important that the protests have been peaceful, and the fact that the alt-left on here is at the same time both yelling about non-existent "liberals" objecting to the protests *and* yelling about how the protests need to get violent and start rioting makes me doubt their genuineness.

My favorite part is how this targets "East Coast establishment liberals" as a whole without actually specifying who this is referring to. Name names. Because I've only seen people commending the peaceful protests and condemning ICE/the feds for escalating. (hint: they're probably not libs)

Zero level of effort is btw generally the base level of effort in the military. People imagine bloodlusty shooters when it's really a bunch of people trying to get out of tedious chores every day.

The girlies yearn for the blaze #SelfieTithe

Let's hear it for Grill Dad solidarity! (I provided another Grill Dad with some oil, he offered me some sugar.)

Apropos of nothing www.liberalcurrents.com/the-totalita...

Peaceful, nonviolent resistance is resistance and has power.

"I've got this. Fire and grilling both have the Dad-gender-nature." And indeed, the families have been fed. (Fajitas and fruit.) Now the children shall finish their food while the fire dies down, and we shall have s'mores. Sometimes the trans girl gets to be loved and praised and be joyful.

Mmmm the libs are gettin' mad. Gooooood. That's the victory condition -- liberal America understanding the stakes and the need to act. That didn't go well for the Nazis last time around in the end, but I'd love it if fewer people can die this time around.

Nothing like a crackling (safe, in a fire pit) fire at a state park campground with my wife and daughter. Joined by one of our friends and her daughter; life is good and the world is beautiful. And I get to have it all -- my family & my friends included -- while being a girl. This rocks tbh.

Today's #SelfieTithe is brought to you courtesy of the SF Bay Area's dominant geographical area (park woodlands)

Alright it is time to begin what will be, off and on through the rest of the year, The Great Culture Novels Re-read Project. All eight novels plus The State of the Art. Jury’s out on Inversions since I read it again like last year. Anyway we’re kicking things off with the book that started it all.

Happy week 2 of Pride, y'all.

[space coven] Mary Robinette Kowal: listen up, boys! Kowal: I've got a story for you... the story of the lady astronaut! Kowal: that's right Kowal: a lady wants to be an astronaut Kowal: how about that?!

the fun version of this is when you’re posting about some nerd shit and someone pops up in the comments like “actually I am a world renowned expert in this field and here’s how this works” easily the best thing that happens on social media

Listen I'm like zero percent into guys but the guy I danced with for my last dance of the night was so incredibly solid and forgiving and holy shit that dynamic is hot in its own right. *swoon* Mysterious South Asian stranger with curls, you showed a girl a really good time to end the night.
