By slashing grad programs while shelling out millions for a parking garage, Penn has shown us its priorities—so we came to the Trustees meeting today to show them ours

““The trustees are creating a climate of manufactured austerity,” said Amy Offner, president of @aaup-penn.bsky.social, who attended the meeting.”

Penn Trustees want a $13 million parking garage for their Teslas. We want a university. Come out to the Inn at Penn today at 4 and tell them to fund graduate education and research! secretary.upenn.edu/trustees-gov...

Every worker deserves a safe a secure retirement. Just this week we saw Tesla stock continue to sink faster than a Cybertruck in quicksand. So we're asking asset managers to honestly look at their investments in Tesla. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/27/b...

The U.S. Postal Service is the nation’s largest unionized employer and its role is outlined in the Constitution. If the Trump administration thinks it can interfere in this unionized workplace, no worker is safe, writes Eric Chornoby: www.labornotes.org/blogs/2025/0...

Penn State faculty are forming a union. It's long overdue. Please share widely, friends. www.pennstatefacultyalliance.org

“The purpose of all of these executive orders is to probe & see which parts of our society are weakest — which ones will cave to threats. What the Penn admin has done is show that it is cowardly & weak, & that it’s a good mark.” - Amy Offner, @aaup-penn.bsky.social www.inquirer.com/columnists/a...

They are trying to prevent research on racial equity and universities are just like we’ll just stop doing research on racial equity instead of calling this out for the existential threat to academic freedom that it is.

Shameful. Solidarity to colleagues with @aaup-penn.bsky.social defending academic freedom and our students. "It is the higher education community’s responsibility not to surrender to such attacks—and not to surrender in anticipation of them. Instead, we must vigorously and loudly oppose them."

Breaking: 20,000 University of California healthcare, research, and technical workers will hold an unfair labor practice strike Feb 26 - 28 across UC campuses, medical centers, and labs. They are members of the University Professional & Technical Employees (UPTE-CWA Local 9119).

Unions Can Stop Trump’s Rollback of Civil Rights Unions are among our best tools for protecting our rights and each other and can lead the fight for an alternative: anticipatory defiance.

Intellectual diversity in Ohio universities will apparently mean that faculty must welcome views like the earth is flat unless we want to risk repercussions for telling the truth and being reported for having an “Earth is round” bias in our classroom.
