I was set to launch my book at the Carter Library next month. This week, we were told all events now need approval from the National Archives. The next day, my event was forced to relocate. A book about the working homeless. A book about civil rights. Apparently these topics are now off limits.

Who wants to chip in with me to put this on billboards in the States?

Well. You can comment here and let CBC know what you think of their "What? We're just asking a question?" radio show. "What does Canada as the 51st state mean to you?" www.cbc.ca/radio/checku...

A beautiful evening with incredible, awe-inspiring Londoners! Thank you MP Lindsay Mathyssen for awarding me the King Charles III Coronation Medal

Solving women's homelessness:

Elon Musk's "peace plan" is the worst thing I've ever seen. Russia just gets to conquer part of Europe and Ukraine has to pay the U.S. for the luxury of losing sovereign territory.

One month ago Seattle cleared the sidewalks of tents. Now they are back and worse than ever. Encampment sweeps are literally worse than doing nothing. komonews.com/news/project...

Can we please stop publishing takes assuming this is a reasonable possibility and instead only publish that Canadians will fight to the death to maintain our sovereignty?

So what I get from this is that moving people from encampments to shelter doesn't work worth shit, which should be a surprise to no one as most came from shelter in the first place. Needs to be from encampments to supportive, private housing. sfstandard.com/2025/02/08/g...

Words have meaning. In an era of misinformation, doubt severely those who try to alter words.

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

This one of the most naive op-eds I've ever seen in the Record. The author fails to recognize that this is all part of the Cambridge mayor's advocacy to abuse the constitution by pre-emptively circumventimg judicial review of anti-encampment laws. www.therecord.com/opinion/colu...

An important event on affordable housing in #LdnOnt -

Are you or your students looking to use 'Intersectionality' as a framework for your research? My team has put together some guidance that we felt was lacking for your own needs on doing intersectional analyses, it might be helpful for you! Open access at: journals.lww.com/advancesinnu...

By confirming RFK Jr and starting to cancel science funding, the U.S. is rapidly relinquishing its position as a global leader on health technologies. This means that the same day Russia is handed a victory, so is China.

Ontario is about to have a provincial election. When they came to power with a majority, Doug Ford's Conservative government cut annual contributions to affordable housing by $250M in response to increased federal dollars. This month, vote to end homelessness by voting NDP (or strategically).

Weak. We still know who Musk is, disappointed Ford would support him. globalnews.ca/news/1099566...

Canada has been absolutely snoozing on foreign interference in pseudo-media sources and here we are now:

“This is in a population that does not support vaccination,” Lock said, clarifying that the people are predominantly unvaccinated or under vaccinated. www.ctvnews.ca/kitchener/ar...

"It is our loving intention to craft a future that is different than our presents and pasts already lived." Alex Nelson, helping close out the @ijohjournal.bsky.social conference in Chile.

I would like to add my thanks to Citi Foundation, which has allowed us to bring over 60 people with lived experiences of homelessness to the conference with free registration.

Yesterday we opened the 2nd International Journal on Homelessness conference in Chile. It's a difficult time to have these conversations as we see a retraction of human rights in many countries, a rise of right-wing narratives for incarceration over care, and an absence of sufficient funding.

I knew one day I’d have to watch powerful men burn the world down – I just didn’t expect them to be such losers | Rebecca Shaw www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

People will die because of this purely ideological move by the Ontario government.

"An economic model that delivers stagnation and insecurity has much to answer for." Or, more simply, the income inequality inherent in trickle-down economics drives those who miss our to the brink. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The insanity of being a fire ecologist in the epicenter of a major fire event, bags packed and ready to evacuate, watching active fire from my window, while taking media requests and explaining to the public, for the 100,000th time how climate change is largely responsible for this

In the past 8 years, spending on homelessness programs by all orders of government has increased, but not equally: Federal - increased by 10x Municipal - increased by 4x Provincial - increased by 2.6x (numbers approximate - source: www.helpseeker.org/reports/muni...)

Did you know that Canada is a world leader in post-secondary attainment?

To everyone's surprise, it turns out that attaching a money-sucking machine to a hospital system makes it worse.

I share this concern, I don't think he's joking any more than Putin has been joking about Ukraine for the last decade. But it won't be military, he will wait until Poilievre is elected and bows the knee. calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu...
