Not the best birder. Definitely not the best photographer. Usually in Central Park, but will travel for Timberdoodles! If you follow and repost a photo, I'll see you and follow back.

Upon reflection, I'm a huge fan of Green Herons! Spotted fishing in Central Park's Loch. πŸ’šπŸ€ŽπŸ’š #Heron #CentralPark #birding

TFW you're hanging out with your girl in the park, when all of a sudden she has to go! No explanation--she just takes off! A pair of Northern Flickers this morning in Central Park.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ #Flickers #CentralPark #birding

I don't think I've ever captured a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker from quite this angle--and, happily, this one had its best breeding plumage on display! ❀️❀️❀️ #Sapsucker #CentralPark #birding

I love this bird account

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰It's always a celebration when I can capture a Northern Flicker in flight! You can just glimpse its yellow-shafted feathers. πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’› #Flicker #CentralPark #birding

I don't often post photos of Brown Creepers, but when one is framed by Central Park's magnificent cherry blossoms, is there really any choice? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ #Creeper #CentralPark #birding

Spent my morning walk chasing one of my favorites--Northern Flickers. There are more in Central Park than I ever remember. Here's one shot I particularly like. ❀️❀️❀️ #Flicker #CentralPark #birding

I was thrilled to spot a spectacular Ring-necked Pheasant strolling beside Derwent Water in the Lake District. Any pheasant you see was lucky/smart enough to survive England's hunting season! ❀️❀️❀️ #Pheasant #LakeDistrict #BirdsSeenIn2025

Did just a little birding while in the U.K. this week, but I did capture a Mute Swan flying low over the Derwent Water to strafe another swan. First time I ever saw one fly, much less photographed it! 😍😍😍 #Swan #LakeDistrict #BirdsSeenin2025

Spent the day hiking in England's Lake District and was thrilled to get this shot of a European Robin. I've always found these cute little birds to be quite elusive, but this one loved having its photo taken! 🧑🧑🧑 #Robin #LakeDistrict #BirdsSeenin2025

I've been spotting quite a few Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers in Central Park this spring. Don't you love saying, "yellow-bellied sapsucker"! πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’› #Sapsucker #CentralPark #birding

A Wood Duck reflecting on its extraordinary beauty. Spotted on Central Park’s reservoir. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° #ducks #centralpark #birding

Pure grace. A Great Egret floats over the Harlem Meer. #Egret #CentralPark #birding

I love the way the light is coming through this Red-bellied Woodpecker's feathers--I don't think I've taken a photo quite like this before. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° #Woodpecker #CentralPark #birding

It took a lot patience, but I finally got a decent shot of this Golden-crowned Kinglet! Seen on a rare sunny day in Central Park. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° #Kinglet #centralpark #birding

Suddenly, we've had several Great Egrets visiting Central Park's Harlem Meer. I captured this one as it rose from the bank to soar into a tree. It's a beautiful time to be in the park! 🌼🌼🌼 #Egret #CentralPark #birding

It was so gloomy this morning, I almost didn't take my camera. But then I would have missed this shot of one of Central Park's coyotes! We stared at each other for maybe two minutes before it ambled off! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ #Coyote #CentralPark

One thing I love about Northern Flickers--they have a beautiful little β™₯️ on the back of their head! Nature is amazing. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° #Flicker #CentralPark #birding

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Woohoo! I saw my first Black-crowned Night Heron in many months on Central Park's Harlem Meer this morning! Love that red eye in the early morning light. 😍😍😍 #Herons #CentralPark #birding

This Red-winged Blackbird really let me have it this morning! Defending his turf along Central Park's Harlem Meer. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° #HarlemMeer #CentralPark #birding

Not one, not two, but three Great Egrets circling the Harlem Meer this morning. I especially like the elegance of this shot! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° #Egrets #HarlemMeer #birding

Dark and slightly gloomy start to the day in Central Park. But it brightened considerably when I spotted this pair of Wood Ducks cavorting on the Pool. I'm not sure she enjoyed this little peck on the cheek, but what do I know? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ #Ducks #CentralPark #birding

There's not room for both of us! Great Egrets were contesting the air space over the Harlem Meer on a gray morning in Central Park. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° #Egrets #CentralPark #birding

It's wonderful to see so many Northern Cardinals back in Central Park. Some will build nests here and return year after year! ❀️❀️❀️ #Cardinals #CentralPark #birding

Overcast and drizzling this morning in Central Park, but my day brightened considerably when I spotted this Wood Duck (and Mallard gf) preening at the Reservoir. I don't think I've ever captured a pose quite like this! πŸ’šπŸ’™β€οΈ #Ducks #CentralPark #birding

Woohoo! The Palm Warblers have arrived in Central Park! I spent time with a couple of beauties as they searched for breakfast early this morning. β€οΈπŸ’›β€οΈ #Warblers #CentralPark #birding

Honestly, if there's one bird we'll never argue over its name, it's the Roseate Spoonbill. I mean, look at that! Absolutely epic. Spotted on South Padre Island deep in Texas. #Spoonbill #RGVbirds #BirdsSeenin2025

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰Woohoo! Spotted my first Great Egret of 2025 in Central Park this morning! Absolutely one of the most elegant birds that visits Manhattan, and a joy to photograph. 😍😍😍 #Egret #CentralPark #birding

Yesss!!!! Northern Flickers are on their way north and a few stopped in Central Park this weekend. I absolutely ❀️ these birds! #Flicker #CentralPark #birding

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰It's on! Spring migration is underway in Central Park. I spotted my first Golden-crowned Kinglets, including this one near Oak Bridge. Those are the skyscrapers of midtown in the background. 😍😍😍 #Kinglet #CentralPark #birding

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚I really wasn't prepared for how long the Scissortail Flycatcher's tail actually is! Spotted along the Rio Grande near Brownsville, TX. βœ‚οΈβœ‚οΈβœ‚οΈ #Flycatcher #RGVbirds

The Crested Caracara, also called the Mexican eagle, is another bird whose range barely crosses the border (see map below). It looks like a hawk, but is technically a falcon. Another lifer on my U.S. list! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° #Caracare #Lifer #RGVbirds

How about this stunning Altamira Oriole? This beauty could be male or female, as they look nearly identical. Found mostly in Mexico and Central America (see map below) their range barely reaches Texas. Cornell estimates there are no more than 500 breeding in the U.S.! 🧑🧑🧑

I was super-fortunate to spot an Audubon's Oriole in the National Butterfly Center in South Texas! This elusive bird's range just barely reaches across the border (see its range map, below) Fewer than 5,000 breed in the U.S. πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’› #Oriole #RGV #BirdsSeenin2025

Believe it or not, this is a Reddish Egret! It’s the rare white morph grabbing breakfast off South Padre Island. They hunt by prancing around and chasing after fish in shallow water. Fun to watch! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ #heron #RGV #Birdsseenin2025

One of the birds I most wanted to see here in south Texas was the Roseate Spoonbill. March is the beginning of the mating season here and these two were testing each other. The orange tail feathers only emerge during breeding! ❀️❀️❀️ #Spoonbill #RGV #BirdsSeenIn2025
