The bonkers thing is that I recall learning about the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act back in school, and thinking "you don't even need to be a macroeconomic genius to intuit that such an approach will be a disaster" and was baffled that the people in history could be so intellectually dim. Agreed, and the more we amplify what Booker is doing, the more we make it matter, in public perception and as an example to other elected officials. On the other hand, the more we disparage and tear it down, the more we make it not matter. It's not all up to him.
