Years ago, when I still lived up in the northern part of Norway, I had the privilege to meet a young Snowshoe Hare. It was such a delicate little creature, yet already so independent and "complete", like an adult hare. Acrylics on board 9.8″ x 9.8″ (25 x 25 cm) #sciart #wildlifeart #animalpainting

Hand-colored, floral and insect illustrations from Maria Sibylla Merian’s ‘Der Raupen wunderbare Verwandelung, und sonderbare Blumen-nahrung’ (translated to “Caterpillars, Their Wondrous Transformation and Peculiar Nourishment from Flowers”), published in 1683. UW-Madison’s Special Collections.

Oscar Droege (1898–1983), a German artist, mastered color woodblock printing, creating vivid, nature-inspired works. Though not directly trained in Japanese woodcut, his style reflects ‘Japonisme’ influences—layered colors, atmospheric landscapes, and Japan paper use akin to ‘shin-hanga’.

Our best seller last week was 'Meshes of the Afternoon' by Sterling Hundley. Printed on a silver foil paper.

“Perth” - 2023 This piece currently resides in Perth, Western Australia. It features a moon-dial, and a perpetual triple-date mechanism, which can mechanically display the correct date, accounting for the varying days in each month, including February and leap year.
