Movies you’ve watched more than six times (“Hard Mode” no Star Wars, Star Trek, or LOTR)

Like Ke$ha, visitors to Walibi Rhône-Alpes are yelling "Timber!" on this little Gravity Group woodie. I don't think it's quite as good as Oscar's Wacky Taxi or Kentucky Flyer (it's a bit rougher & doesn't quite have as much airtime), but it's still good. youtu.be/AKhPF3ITIho

Le Pal is a charming little park in France that I would love to get back to someday. While it's largely a zoo, they do have a fair number of rides, including this cute little shooting dark ride called Champi'folies, where you shoot a bunch of mushrooms: youtu.be/pE9jBitCaVE

So at a park where every ride both couldn't be built in America AND tries to just absolutely soak everyone, what could be more perfect than Kitt SuperJet? You get a wild ride around their stunt show theater in a stunt jetboat. Movieland is whack, folks! youtu.be/YYVSiIavtK4

Did an interview about my Disney Challenges with the For Your Amusement Podcast (@fyapod.bsky.social) guys, incl. @ryanbergara.bsky.social. Check it out! www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzHt...

Crush's Coaster was down for refurb during my DGRC, but I did manage this one ride on it last summer when I revisited Paris because of its awful line. It's a pretty standard spinning coaster with some extra bits added to the beginning of the ride but with horrendous capacity. youtu.be/d8z20mPLvpk

Zadra was RMC's first ground-up hybrid coaster (and a hyper to boot). By all accounts it's got a killer layout. And yet, I found myself underwhelmed by it. It was good, yes, but none of the elements really HIT for me, ya know? Nothing actually stood out as memorable. youtu.be/uoTwDjEqhHs

Cooked some pork tenderloin sous vide tonight, and I think it may just be the best lean pork I've ever had (e.g. excluding BBQ, pork belly, bacon, sausage, etc.). Made a marinade out of some chili-garlic sauce and apricot preserves (plus a few other things) I had in the fridge, & it was to die for.

Energylandia really is just the physical embodiment of a Roller Coaster Tycoon park built by a 12 year-old. So while the park has 19 coasters, most of them are just filler, like Happy Loops, their SBF Visa spinner. But at least it's the 3-loop model! youtu.be/bh3EMwdSZAk

So it seems I made a whoopsie w/ my upcoming Europe trip where one of the parks sold out for the day I was planning to visit. So now I'm needing to cannibalize most of my Amsterdam sightseeing day to loop back for it. If I only have a couple hours left to spare, what do I *have* to do in Amsterdam?

It's no secret that I am not at all a fan of Mack water coasters. Most of them bounce around and slam your knees into the restraints (which hurts!). But Fjord Explorer at Le Pal is actually good! It's got a pretty nice coaster section & a decent splash. youtu.be/ZBZwmgEyA-4

Which is worse? Walking out of the office after a long day at work to find you've somehow left your car running in the parking lot all day? Or arriving home after a long day at work to find you've somehow left your garage door open all day?

Legendia is a very very weird little theme park in Poland that would be entirely forgettable if not for the big modern Vekoma known as Lech Coaster. This thing is butter smooth & pretty fun, but *very* intense. Maybe a bit too much for me. But it's wild. youtu.be/TZfiHuofxzo

Fun fact: Most fun facts are neither fun, nor facts.

I was very concerned when Disney announced they were retheming DCA's Tower of Terror, but I could not be more pleased by Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT. It's such a fun ride. And it very well may be my favorite domestic Disney ride. So fun! youtu.be/oFhtiFWZcis

So one of the most unique coasters ever built is Cobra at Switzerland's only theme park of note, Conny-Land. It's a looping shuttle coaster with a beyond-vertical backwards lift and an insane beyond-vertical spike at the end called a Scorpion Tail. It's wild. youtu.be/1B9ha4o4WHI

Always fun when finalizing trip planning and discovering there are a couple of parks roughly along your route that you didn't realize were there and hadn't factored in and now need to scramble to try to figure out how to include without breaking everything else...

So 5 years ago, I decided to cook a decadent Easter Brunch: Crab Cake & Filet Mignon Benedict with Dill Hollandaise and Crispy Breakfast Potatoes, served with a Virgin Semi-Mosa

There are few things more iconic than the Olympic rings. But what if they were a roller coaster?? Well wonder no more, because Anton Schwarzkopf answered that question back in 1989. And Olympia Looping has been thrilling riders all across Europe ever since! youtu.be/L2pSjvJNmc0

In 2023, there was a fire at Europa Park that consumed their log flume, powered coaster, & indoor walkthrough attraction. The park very quickly worked to rebuild the rides (albeit in different versions). This is the new version of the Tirol Log Flume. youtu.be/n2paNhCGNIQ

I just want to go on record as saying that @tomscott.com is the best guest @jetlagthegame.bsky.social has ever had, and I would pay good money (via continued @nebula.tv subscription) to see him come back and play more games with the boys. (And my DM's are open if there's ever a theme park season.)

Pégase Express at Parc Asterix looks like it's just another generic family coaster filler ride. But it's anything but! First, it's really quite a long ride. Then there's a show scene and a whole lengthy backwards section! And the ride itself is fun too! youtu.be/2zM1n4eLO3o

While Disneyland was able to build Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway without removing any rides, Hollywood Studios decided to cannibalize their Great Movie Ride for it. MMRR is a fun ride to be sure, but personally I can't help but miss GMR. youtu.be/yMd5z3vVsQw

One of these things took an immense amount of planning and effort and expense, and then a ton of work after the fact to edit and package together. The other was a 💩post I slapped together in 30 mins for April Fools (most of which was just waiting for it to upload over the hotel wifi). SMH.

It's one thing for a park to put a Giant Inverted Boomerang right next to their Classic Boomerang (*cough* SFNE *cough*), but it's wild for a park to put in TWO DIFFERENT Vekoma Family Boomerangs. Unless you're Energylandia, of course. This is Boomerang: youtu.be/zcN4mr7DBgg

Toutatis at Parc Asterix is a modern Intamin multi-launched coaster, and it's fantastic. Its peers are Velocicoaster, Taiga, Pantheon, Taron, and to an extent, Batman Gotham City Escape. I'd say it's one of the best of them. Is it better than VC though? youtu.be/_Fo5g1G2eNU

EPCOT has a number of more mild attractions, good for sitting down in some air conditioning on a hot, humid Orlando day. Gran Fiesta Tour is Mexico's such offering & typically doesn't have much of a line either. What's your favorite way to beat the heat? youtu.be/bsXCLL7wdgQ

Same post. Two different platforms. While most of the engagement from the other place was due to angsty overreactions, there was next to no actual engagement over here. What gives?

When you talk about rides you definitely couldn't have in America, Italy's Movieland has quite a few. U-571 is a now-defunct attraction involving an attack and your subsequent escape on a submarine. You get yelled at. And you get *soaked*. It's wild. youtu.be/SrOW16nwX18

Had the opportunity to visit Oktoberfest last year, and Toboggan is undoubtedly the best ride at the event! Super unique. Great atmosphere. Really cool. Definitely worth doing. Check it out!! youtu.be/ySapbQl6Oak
