A late ASD diagnosis can be confusing since we lived our entire life identifying with particular roles (without realizing we were masking), and being autistic is completely new to us. So, it makes sense that it will take time to adapt and/or accept that we are autistic.

Undiagnosed autism is spending your whole life doing things that make you uncomfortable and have you conform (mask) just to avoid being mistreated until you're so good at it, that when you finally do get diagnosed, people don't believe you.

No, we (as autistic individuals) should not be compared to a dandelion. We understand what you're doing... the 'weed' has importance, if it's grown (nurtured) into a useful herb. We're not horticulture, we are human beings.

They talk about initiatives, collaboration and partnership between the health system and local community networks to help ensure equitable access to services for the English-speaking community. No matter the language we speak, late diagnosed autistics are unable to access healthcare support. period

It is a common misconception that individuals with alexithymia do not feel any emotion at all. Au contraire, we feel so much. Too much. Our difficulty with alexithymia is understanding, processing and verbalizing our feelings and sensations.

Autistics should be understood as autistic and accommodated as autistic our entire life.
