One for @grimartgroup.bsky.social. The regeneration of the Holbeck area of south Leeds is still not complete apparently. #grimart #leeds

A few from Thursday’s walk around Mount Grace Priory on Thursday, before the rains came.

Haven’t seen Kathryn Joseph in far too long; she made a mesmerising support act for Mogwai in Leeds last night.

One from last night’s @mogwai.scot show at Leeds’ O2 Academy. Like Herod and Christmas Steps the highlights of a superb show.

Crap photos, but another blistering set from The None, this time at the @nathbrudenell.bsky.social, with support from Polevaulter and Algernon Cornelius. Also notable as it was the second-born’s first Brudenell gig.

Five years. Fail we may, sail we must.

EXCLUSIVE: The Tribune understands that The Leadmill has lost its legal battle with its landlord and will have to leave the building. While the judge has yet to formally announce his decision, word is already spreading among the venue’s staff.

Delighted to catch @worriedaboutsatan.bsky.social at @sonidopolifonico.bsky.social’s show at The Bishop’s House last night. It’s been far too long (18 years!).

I still don’t think there’s a better live band than Personal Trainer right now. Brilliant as always at Manchester’s Gorilla on the first night of their latest UK tour.

I’m a long way off my Dewsbury 10k PB, but it was a pleasure to run with so many @steelcitystriders.bsky.social on Sunday; great times from plenty of other club members too.

A few from Saturday’s walk exploring Byland Abbey and Cockerdale. #northyorkshiremoors

“Don’t ever, ever, ever start a small music venue.” Sheffield is blessed with live music venues, but many are under threat. Dan stays up way past his bedtime at Sidney and Matilda to find out how creativity is surviving amid the cost of living crisis. www.sheffieldtribune.co.uk/music-sounds...

Excellent piece by @dublonde.bsky.social via @clashmusic.com on the depressingly awful behaviour of many within the music industry. Thanks to @viks0110.bsky.social for the link. www.clashmusic.com/features/ema...

A great set from Du Blonde at Yellow Arches tonight. Nice to support @ivwuk.bsky.social too. Can’t believe it’s over 12 years since I last saw Beth Houghton at Tramlines. #dublonde #ivw2025

@neilscho.bsky.social Here’s a few Sheffield up and comings for your perusal - Du Blonde (this Wednesday), Ditz, Jeffrey Lewis, Richard Dawson, Melin Melyn, Snapped Ankles, Panic Shack, Get Together, King Creosote. Sheffield doing OK at the moment I reckon.

If you see this post , quote a bridge from your gallery.

Friday night on Withernsea promenade in the van, in order to do this morning’s Withernsea Promenade parkrun. We’ve a few more weekend trips away planned as I’m closing in on @parkrunuk regionnaire status for Yorkshire and the Humber.

Home made marmalade.

Thrilled to speak to Vicky Bridges for my Looking Up Sheffield newsletter on her recent Spine triumph: of hallucinations, heartbreak and heroism (and some dotwatching too). Thanks to @adam0407.bsky.social for giving the piece some additional backbone. lookingupsheff.substack.com/p/we-were-ju...

Haven’t logged into the ‘other place’ for some time. I just did - and promptly realised it HAD to be deactivated. Just awful. Others may follow in the wake of Zuckerberg’s statements this week.

That’ll be a Saturday lie in then. #parkrun

Excellent debut piece from my friend @lozman.bsky.social as Looking Up Sheffield. open.substack.com/pub/lookingu...

@pomfob.bsky.social Here you go.

And so, another @rockawaybeach.bsky.social festival comes to an end. Absolutely the best way to start the new year/end the festive season. Until we meet again in. 2026.

Belatedly, highlights of @rockawaybeach.bsky.social day 1; opening band, The None lived up to high expectations. Jim Beck’s guitar playing is next level. Steady now indeed. Man/Woman/Chainsaw were solid, Spiritualised were as epic as ever and Arab Strap were unusually chipper.

A weekend at @rockawaybeach.bsky.social at @butlins.bsky.social at Bognor Regis also provided an opportunity for a bit of Parkrun tourism; this year it was the turn of Littlehampton Prom parkrun; a very warm welcome form the volunteer team on a very cold January morning.

An excellent day 2 at @rockawaybeach.bsky.social ; highlights included the very entertaining Soap Box , the very angry Meryl Streek , the very bass-y Leftfield and the very energetic Bodega. Ales were taken in the Dog and Duck.

Sad news that Winter RSR run is cancelled for #Sheffield #TheOutdoorCity today. A bit more here: open.substack.com/pub/abitblac...

Back at @rockawaybeach.bsky.social 2025 - no better way to start the New Year.

Moonrise & moonset shown against sunrise / sunset daylight hours for next 5 weeks.

This week’s #fingerpostfriday submission is from Stannington at the top of the Loxley valley. Bonus point for identifying the feature on the bottom left.

No great love for streaming services but here’s my stats for what they’re worth - mostly gym/running/driving plays. Pleased that I’ve also bought physical releases by @seefeel.bsky.social and @janeweaver.bsky.social this year too (and every other artist on the list too).

The traditional Steel City Striders New Year’s Eve run from Fairholmes. Great attendance despite blustery conditions. No better way to end the #running year.

Look how excited I was to be in attendance at Chevin Forest Parkrun on New Year’s Day. Actually it was a lovely event and the rain did stop before the start. Huge thanks to all the parkrun volunteers for turning out and being so cheerful. Parkrun 454 Location 161 #parkrun #chevinforestparkrun

As is becoming traditional, a run around the Christmas trees of Bradfield Parish - 12 trees, 16 miles and Sheffield at its finest.

Photos from this evening's walk in Grand Lake CO. Featuring a fairly stunning sunset

Top 5: Songs of 2024 1. Vampire Empire - Adrienne Lenker 2. Bending Hectic - The Smile 3. I Don’t Fear Hell - Shellac 4. Broken Man - St. Vincent 5. Ouroboros - Goat #chopsfives #topfive

A pleasant Sunday morning walk around both Bradfields.

Thoroughly recommend the @kneecapceol.bsky.social film. Brilliantly put together; fast paced, witty and sharp. Thanks to Kemi Badenoch for the recommendation. 😉
