The hype is building here in Austin over #SingleStairReform! Austin City Council should allow these wonderful family-sized buildings up to six floors citywide. Check out what folks across the US are saying about single-stair reform: www.singlestairatx.org/support

YOU are invited to the fourth annual Willow Street Block Party & Potluck Banquet on Saturday March 29th! πŸŽ‰ Come enjoy community, food, and more in the street. This always a highlight of the year. RSVP & info: partiful.com/e/NeuZnArl3d...

I'm excited to be part of the advocacy for #SingleStairReform ramping up here in Austin, along with @chris-gannon.bsky.social, @parkerwelch.bsky.social, @cityjane.bsky.social, and other amazing advocates! Check out our Single Stair ATX website to find out more: www.singlestairatx.org

This is neat. Tap your way from a regular auto-centric street to a beautiful shared street: 12m2.org/utapia/ Show this to your friends, neighbors, & electeds. We deserve this.

Speak up against expanding MoPac South by the end of today! It takes just a minute to write your comment to Austin City Council. Council will vote on a MoPac South resolution on Thursday and they need your support!

Incredible. Imagine how this would transform daily life in Austin. There's a massive opportunity cost with highway expansions.

Architectural quality is deeply underappreciated in urbanist circles. There's documented evidence that people are more likely to support development if it's of perceived quality: plazaperspective.com/can-stop-bui...

I suspect a lot of other transit agencies, like the one in this article, will go through a similar process of sobering up over microtransit. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Very happy to see Boston taking inspiration from Austin removing all parking mandates in 2023 and other housing-friendly measures. Both cities are incredible, so it's great to see this exchange. www.msn.com/en-us/money/...

Austin District 7 residents, go vote!

Great quote below and an important article linked about the drawbacks of electric vehicles (which are still superior to their gasoline alternatives.) We should all marvel at how comically/tragically inefficient cars are. So much energy, bulk, & space to move so little. It's time to move on... πŸšŠπŸšπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸšΆπŸΎ

What is an incredible moment to see Dallas consider removing parking mandates citywide. This is a cultural turning point whose positive impacts could be felt for generations to come.

There's just $165 left to reach our fundraising goal for @rethink35.org's lawsuit against TxDOT over its stupid/destructive I-35 expansion through Austin! Help us reach the mountain top before Thanksgiving! www.zeffy.com/en-US/fundra...

It’s official: #Rethink35 has hired an expert for the I-35 lawsuit against the harmful & ineffective #highwayexpansion in #Austin! We’re only $580 away from a generous matching goal to pay the expert. #Texas #ATX #urbanism www.zeffy.com/en-US/fundra...

Hey friends, I'm inviting YOU to a giant πŸŽ‰ Block Party Potluck Banquet πŸŽ‰ on December 7th, here in East Austin. We're aiming to set the record for the large street potluck in Austin history! RSVP here: partiful.com/e/GibCGulJwf...? (important so we have enough chairs & tables.) Here's last year...

Go Swiss freeway fighters! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡ πŸ§€

Thank you, Texas Department of Transportation!

What an incredible night! Thank you to everyone who made @safestreetsaustin.bsky.social's annual Safe Streets For All Party. This will truly help power our important work in 2024. ❀️ y'all!

One of Austin's most visionary leaders, Council Member Paige Ellis, has just landed on Bluesky! @paige-ellis.bsky.social Welcome!

If you live in Austin, I hope to see you at tonight's Safe Streets For All Party!

TWO DAYS left until our second annual Safe Streets For All Party! πŸŽ‰ Don't miss out on a fantastic evening of celebration, community, food, drinks, and much more! πŸ₯³ Tickets available here: safestreetsaustin.org/party-2024

Expanding I-35 through Austin is a seriously dumb, damaging, and deranged plan. SO grateful for Texas State Rep. Gina Hinojosa for taking this fight to Washington! This is the highest-ranking elected official yet to state their concerns about the project in writing. www.kvue.com/video/traffi...

The harder we advocate, the more true this becomes. Many cities & states have built so much car infrastructure that the driving experience has reached a nightmare critical mass for many folks. More and more people want out and into transit, walking, and bicycling.

Watching for the live announcement of congestion pricing in NYC! www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXSt...

Word of our successful Austin parking reform efforts have made it all the way to Sweden! I'll be up early tomorrow 7am CST for a panel (including a pre-recorded Donald Shoup) to explain how we eliminated parking mandates citywide in Austin. Zoom link here: gronamobilister.se/aktiviteter/...

Our car culture isn’t just built on wheels, it’s propped up by taxpayer subsidies.

These 12 cars during downtown Austin rush hour are consuming an entire city block. What a comically inefficient way to move people. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ The automobile as a form of mass transportation has failed. We know how to move far more people: Reallocating road space to bus lanes, bike lanes, and sidewalks.

@safestreetsaustin.bsky.social's annual party was huge fun and inspiring last year and it'll be a blast again this year. I'll be at the party - join me and many more! www.safestreetsaustin.org/party-2024

Come on, Gov. Hochul: Flick the switch on congestion pricing!

You want to reduce the carbon footprint of your food? Focus on what you eat, not whether your food is local. Transport emissions are very small for most food products.

A HUGE thanks to Texas State Representative Gina Hinojosa for writing this incredible letter to the federal government, expressing her profound concerns about the I-35 expansion. Rep Hinojosa is the highest ranking official ever to write a public letter like this. Read the letter, it's amazing.

It's hard to overstate the significance of TxDOT working on its first ever plans for active transportation and for transit. TxDOT must move beyond highways and expanding them and this could be a step in the right direction. Take TxDOT's survey by 11/4!

TxDOT wouldn't invite Rethink35 and the community to its I-35 expansion groundbreaking ceremony. So instead, we held a cookie-breaking ceremony using a cookie from the TxDOT event! Check out all the photos from our day of protest over the I-35 expansion project: www.flickr.com/photos/19948...

What an amazing #Rethink35 & community protest yesterday outside TxDOT's I-35 Central groundbreaking ceremony! Thank you to everyone who made it. The message was again clear: I-35 expansion is unpopular. People want a better way. Check out more protest photos: www.flickr.com/photos/19948...

The I-35 groundbreaking protest is today. Join us! Meet at 1:30pm, protest at 2pm. actionnetwork.org/events/prote... #rethink35 #nomorefreeways

Here are just some of the beautiful scenes from last Saturday's Willow Street block party here in Austin. The City of Austin has repeatedly relaxed block party rules and the events are starting to flourish. ❀️ Block parties bring so much joy and hope. They should spread throughout the land.

Shared Responsibility. Content done with The Biking Lawyer

THIS Wednesday at 2pm, join Rethink35 and the community to protest at TxDOT's I-35 expansion groundbreaking ceremony. I'll be there! Let's get a huge crowd and show that the community is united against expansion. RSVP: actionnetwork.org/events/prote...

Opposing highway expansions is a mainstream political position in Austin. 81% of candidates for Austin City Council who responded to the #Rethink35 questionnaire OPPOSE expanding I-35. Read their full statements here: rethink35.org/2024-questio...
