I remember learning about these flowers in one of my books when I was a pre-schooler or had just started school and the image has stuck with me ever since. Majestic things, congrats and a bit of envy

it has nothing to do with a cortex gene and the wing melanisation in moths and butterflies is actually tied to the expression of mir-193, which targets several genes involved in melanin production (cortex not included) and is extremely conserved and occurs in Diptera (D. melanogaster at least). 2/2

And to improve removal of false negatives we have compiled a CUT&RUN Suspect List of Problematic Regions
Thanks to @nf-co.re for including it into the good #genomic practices 🙏!

I grew up in, currently live in, and work in tech in Silicon Valley. The modern world was given to us by scientists and civil engineers. Tech bros gave us apps that are glorified spreadsheets/marketplaces, tech that is shittier versions of things that already existed, or hate promoting machines.

Would the review of all Challoumis' papers contain the reference to itself?

If there are no names exposed, why not? Would be nice to know the journal, though

Let's move past the 'common sense'. My point is that using any statistical method, even 'principled' ones, requires understanding applicability and proper data preprocessing to yield useful insights. Your crusade against DR is inspiring for sure, but providing alternatives would be helpful.

I'm sorry, but could you clarify the consequence of what? I'm having trouble identifying the starting point of your argument, relative to my comment.

Based on the contents of the blogpost I couldn't understand, why I or any other researcher should avoid UMAPs in our sc analysis. Yes, you should remove PC with highest correlation before running UMAP, yes you shouldn't make extraordinary claims just based on it. I thought it was common sense 🫤

Thanks Artem! Here are top & side views. The ptilinum - an eversible pouch on the fly’s head - strongly inflate, then deflates quickly after deployment

Thanks a lot, Joel! Now I am sure I saw bubbles! Are those the consequences of ptilinum collapse when the pressure rises? What's the liquid in the fly head?

Outstanding work! Is there footage of wings unfolding using this angle? I wonder what's happening with the head at that moment
