Sorry, Baby immediately became my favorite film of Sundance 2025 and I had no choice but to write the night away about how much this film impressed me, boxd.it/8HJDkF

Sundance for us online folks has started and I had a wonderful opening experience with Sunfish. An anthology that flows between chapters with relative ease and paints a complex picture of life around a Midwestern lake, boxd.it/8FMwnZ

One of my favorite old joke reviews, I'm glad it could get to 100 likes

Me thinking Sundance would have actually done enough to prepare their site so that it wouldn't be hell just to get one (1) ticket

the Plot of Pixie (2020),,, Immaculate

BLACK BOX DIARIES (2024) Streaming Now Paramount+ w/Showtime #BlackBoxDiaries

Wallace and Gromit seeing how uncinematic many modern films are

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl

I absolutely love this Great Gatsby DVD opens with a fake ad for Splode Soda that's actually an advertisement against tobacco. Truly putting me in the correct head space

I don't do joke reviews anymore but I am happy whenever I see this one gets a like

Me, Earl, and The Dying Girl is a film I both desperately wish I had seen when it came out but also I fear I would not have appreciated it and it's cinematic references enough

she really is just a little guy

For me, Juror #2 being in active conversation with 12 Angry Men was an incredible positive that provided an excellent lens for a director like Eastwood to approach his likely final film, boxd.it/86BJSf

More than any other film, the process of sitting down and writing out my thoughts on Anora brought out layers I was not able to appreciate in the moment. I suspect the next time I watch my feelings will only warm further, boxd.it/84YGCL

For Wicked, I ended up writing my longest review so far as the film had far more to unpack than I could have anticipated, especially with just how much its lead performances and characters work. A shame so much of the film was washed out by horrendous lighting, boxd.it/7X5lsR

Strange Darling was one of 2024's most divisive films and its one that I came out very warm on. The film delights in holding back information and the full context, yet once everything comes to light it feels as if the film is just naturally clicking into place, boxd.it/7zOThx

Twisters was my favorite four quadrant blockbuster of 2024 and delivered spectacle in spades. As Tyler Owens says, "you don't face your fears, you ride them" and I wonder if that was Lee Isaac Chung psyching himself up to the ride the bull of franchise film-making, boxd.it/6VOvVD

If at the start of 2024 I was told that a 5 year retrospective on Once Upon A Time In Hollywood would be the piece of writing I was the proudest of I never would have believed you and yet here we are. Genuinely, I feel as if this was my best writing of the year, boxd.it/6RK1Et

Even if the film may not be from the literal POV of the killer as touted, In A Violent Nature proved to be one of the highlights in 2024 horror for me. Although the slower pace will put some off, it gave me ample room to think on what the film aimed to tackle, boxd.it/6N77Wp

Some of my 2024 Letterboxd Stats 🫡

My Top 50ish 2024 Releases

Shane is one of the classic films I had the most fun writing about this year. I have never been that invested in westerns as a genre, but the more I unpacked this film and others the more I wanted to seek out some genre staples. boxd.it/6Le37X

Nothing from film in 2024 will haunt me quite like "there is still time" from I Saw The TV Glow. Since the first time I watched this film it has not left my mind and it continues to prompt such intense introspection. Among all of the reviews I am sharing, this is one of my favorites, boxd.it/6IrJ4b

Even if it is a much older film than most in this collection, I found Heaven's Gate to be a rewarding film to get under the hood of. Even if it will forever be associated with the end of New Hollywood, on its own merits I found it to be a very rewarding film, boxd.it/6zJ0Cx

Which, with my love for Fury Road, the next day how could I not then go even more in depth with its hot off the presses prequel, Furiosa. One of the films this year that the more I wrote about it, the more I found to adore about this picture, boxd.it/6xW2Qp

It took until 2024, but this spring I finally *got* Mad Max: Fury Road. Once I came to fully appreciate this film, I couldn't help but writing long about this one, boxd.it/6xALbn

Sasquatch Sunset might be a film with a very narrow audience to appeal to, but I am at the front of that crowd cheering it on. The film starts as a more absurd comedy experience, but soon enough the laughs start to fall away as a grim reality creeps in, boxd.it/6trPKd
