A slow burn, but precisely the type of film Ebert would describe as an "empathy machine". Highly recommend seeing #SeedOfTheSacredFig.

A bunch of people talking in a room for 90 minutes can in fact be some of the most riveting pieces of film you can ever see, #September5 is proof of that. It deserved a Best Picture nod.

#Companion is a terrific start to 2025 moviegoing; its hilarious, exciting, and immensely satisfying, What a debut from writer-director Drew Hancock! Go see it on the big screen.

Half-Life 3 confirmed.

Robert Eggers’ #Nosferatu features all of his strengths as a filmmaker in even stronger forms. Beautifully designed and impeccably filmed with a remarkable cohesion in its editing. Thanks to the New Beverly for presenting it in glorious 35mm!

#TheBrutalist is a vast, gripping epic about the deceit, lie and betrayal in the immigrant experience and the so-called “American dream.” It’s a 3.5 hour film in which not a single frame is wasted. One of the best films of the year and of recent years. “It’s all rotten. This whole place is rotten.”

Finally saw #Wicked and though I’m not usually a fan of musicals, I couldn’t help but feel that this is the sort of movie that the movies were made for. Impeccable work from everyone, from the cast to the art direction. The film is a joy in every sense of the word.

Some shots of Santa Monica Pier from back in June 2024.

Shot these on iPhone 16 Pro on a trip to Paris last weekend. The Apple camera engineers are doing incredible work!
