#BuckeyesAgainstFascism

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

If you’re in the US and you’d like to know what projects and vital services federal grants currently fund in your state, you can search here: www.usaspending.gov And you can find the contact information for your elected representatives here: www.usa.gov/elected-offi... They need to hear from you.

I have a bad #rstats habit of just typing up code and not setting up file structures first. I am suffering through debugging everything 😵

NEW: After reviewing leaked documents, we have found UnitedHealth is strategically limiting access to a treatment for thousands of children with autism across the country in order to cut costs. Advocates say the company’s strategy may be illegal. www.propublica.org/article/unit... 👇

This is so desensitized to the serious problem that those who need healthcare can not get it properly lmao.

looks like graze.social makes it extremely easy to emulate the following feed of any other user on the network — see through someone else's "eyes" instantly! super cool

Foursquare just open sourced their 100 million place point of interest dataset! Some notes on poking around with it using DuckDB (it's Parquet files on S3) simonwillison.net/2024/Nov/20/...

I made a thing! I was playing around with the AT protocol and as a little experiment I made a website that visualises activity around Bluesky: nightsky.hctr.dev It listens to all new posts and shows them as little stars across a night sky 🌃 Every star is someone, somewhere, posting something

DAY 1 @ #ComplexCon

resolved: people who insist that all social media sites must be places where users are constantly encountering and arguing with people over fundamental disagreement do so because their actual, real lives are echo chambers where they do not encounter any meaningful difference from day-to-day.

Bluesky really is the new #rstats twitter because we have the first base R vs tidyverse flame war 🤣

Heads up! This weird thing occurred where my handle was invalid on my profile page and had to renter it @adrimichelson.bsky.social should now work for me! I would check your profile as well!

one thing that is true about this website is that a lot of you are very generous. here is someone who can use a bit of your generosity, if you can spare it. www.gofundme.com/f/help-danie...

Speaking of the utterly broken Twitter search (RIP), here are instructions for searching on Bluesky. It requires a little more from you, but once you know the prefixes, I've found the search works just fine. bsky.social/about/blog/0...

This is super nifty!

One of my favorite things that I did in the old place was curate a list of Data Librarians. #datalibs are one of my favorite communities, and I hope this starter pack can help us find each other again in this new place. Please reply or DM me with more folks to add to the pack! go.bsky.app/DPpUuPm

Love seeing #data twitter that I knew pre Elon bubble up here! Hope this will last and be better than Mastodon or Threads.

If you see a lot of folks replying to posts with a 📌 emoji it’s because they’re using this feed. It’s essentially a bookmark! Reply with the emoji and it pulls the post into your own private feed and saves it there for you! Here:

At last, there's a searchable directory of Bluesky starter packs, courtesy of @mubashariqbal.com! Just one more way third-party developers are helping to make this place better. Search starter packs by keyword, and sort by "Uses" to see which ones people are finding the most helpful

Check out the new `pastum` extension for Positron (and VS Code I guess)—it's {datapasta} for Positron! It works with both R (base R, tibble, and data.frame) and Python (pandas and polars) github.com/atsyplenkov/... #rstats #python

Data twitter… are y’all really back?? 🥺 LinkedIn was good as a lifeboat for a while but dear lord we don’t want to stay there forever!

It's been 12 hours so maybe everyone has moved on, but I created a graph with the all the missing lines. Visually, you could say White men without college degrees were ahead of 10 groups in 1980 (5th place out of 16), and only 7 groups by 2022 (9th place).

Voted for Kamala in Las Vegas, Joe Biden Style 🕶️🍦🦅🇺🇸🕶️🍦🦅🇺🇸
