did you know that reading is subversive paying attention to facts and hard data is rebellious pointing out logical fallacies in political posturing is disrespectful ?

I’ve been crazy busy taking care of family stuff in Brazil, but late at night, my thoughts rush back home, to California, where my book is in the hands of a fabulous editor.😊

Seems like the relevance of this Reagan-era Herblock cartoon has risen by 200%. Washington Post, 12/22/1988.

Also in the article, and very interesting: “South Dakota, Montana, and Iowa provided 110 percent, 87 percent, and 79 percent, respectively, of their electricity demand with renewables, particularly wind and hydropower.”

I’m in Brazil, taking care of family stuff, and trying not to have an emotional breakdown every time people ask me about the “situation in the U.S.”😶

Marsha "Pay it No Mind" Johnson (1945-1992) was a Black trans woman whose activism was critical in the push for LGBTQ rights. During the 1969 Stonewall Riots, she dropped a brick onto a police car from a lamppost. Stand with us in celebrating her legacy. #TransRights #BlackHistoryMonth (art by me)

My heart aches for the families of the victims of yesterday’s tragic event.

Consider this: January 20: FAA director fired January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring freeze January 22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded January 28: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees January 29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years

THIS 👇 is how you call out this administration. This is Dem leadership. Other governors are also speaking. When the media doesn't get it out, we must pick up the slack.

Alameda South Shore Beach was cold, but not too windy today.

I had a fantastic meeting with some writing friends today. We talked craft, reading, conferences, and poured our hearts out about all sorts of worries.

It’s OK to need the help of an editor to rework a manuscript. I hesitated to do so in the past because it’s costly. But the book I’m querying has had so many rejections from agents saying, “This is great, if only it was shorter,” that I decided it’s worthy of the investment.🤞

twilight over San Francisco - the other end of a sunset

I love watching the sunset. This one, enjoyed yesterday from Crissy Field in San Francisco, is my favorite to date.

I spent MLK Day with my family. We drove through San Francisco, visited Crissy Field, took a nice walk by the bay, enjoyed spectacular views, watched a breathtaking sunset, ate great food, and I promised myself to have more lovely days like this and make my daily dose of news much smaller.

It’s been a long day... Oh, it’s another day already.🤷🏻‍♀️
