I did a presentation yesterday to provide some historical perspective on Canadian trade, as we face the threat of tariffs. Here are some graphs that may be of interest. 1/ #cdnpoli #cdnecon #econsky

Chrystia Freeland is a trooper. Kudos to her for her enthusiasm at what is nowhere close to where she was, and where she hoped to be. I'd be sitting there with a face that would sour milk. #cdnpoli

This post wins the internet today.

Canadian FP is having a Bulwark moment where some of the worst people in 21st century politics are among the few people with exactly the right outlook on Trump right now

To the guy sporting fancy alloy rims on his Kia minivan.... Do not go gentle into that good night. #suburbanlife

I am still mad about the Keir Starmer thing at the White House yesterday. If our government had any guts whatsoever, they'd have the British High Commissioner on the carpet this morning, to explain his government's position, with an explicit threat to pull some credentials..... 1/ #cdnpoli

For a bit of excitement, in my riding, the PC incumbent, who is a real piece of work, is only leading by 63 votes. Today, I took my son to vote, and let him mark the ballot. I told him every vote counts. As it turns out, I wasn't lying to him. #onpoli

Man, that NDP vote is super-efficient. A six-point drop in the polls is barely going to move the needle on their seat count. As for the Liberals, a few more points would've meant a crap-load more seats, so a tough night. #onpoli

If there ever was a time to become a republic.... #cdnpoli

I imagine my dream of a Doug Ford-free Ontario will have to wait for another four years. In the meantime, there's this bit of cuteness to help us escape. #onpoli youtu.be/kZ_s-Tf-EjY?...

Gene Hackman was one of my favourite actors. So versatile, and such a badass.

I am not a historian, but I can't help but wonder what RFK would have thought of people like his son. By all accounts, he was intense and brilliant, but cold and ruthless to those who stood in his way (Nixon once said he was like a 18th century Jesuit priest) 1/

I still find this hilarious, and yes, I'm honing in on 50. And I agree with PM Harper, <<Les éréctions en répetition>> can be a huge nuisance. #cdnpoli youtu.be/W-P08sAY1P4?...

As a person for whom French is a fourth language, I have a lot of sympathy for someone who says something they didn't intend to say, especially when that error involves prepositions. 1/3

Should sound familiar to anyone covering Pierre Polievre. #cdnpoli

"...Mark Carney semblait le plus hésitant en français, avançant ses points de vue avec prudence, évitant manifestement de commettre une bévue. Il était généralement intelligible, mais sa maîtrise de la langue ne lui permettait pas d’être incisif et percutant. " ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/214...

I'm in Mexico, and the concierge at my hotel just told me "Don't become the 51st state," followed by something in Spanish which had the words "Trump" and "loco" in it. So that made my day. #cdnpoli #cdnsky

I'm sorry to hear that Arif Virani won't run for re-election. I knew Arif years ago, when I was a first-year law student at UofT, and he was in third year. He was smart, articulate and enthusiastic. Most of all, he really cared about making the world better 1/ #cdnpoli #cdnsky
