imagine if a lot of old objects are tinted slightly green because people would wash it with bong water and bong water was just kind of everywhere in households

I've only ever seen terminally online trans people describe some sort of wide sweeping movement of other trans people who say you should not (medically) transition as a trans person and I've never ever seen any of those they describe people ever. I feel like it's some sort of strawman..

Like, was I not allowed to mention the word "terminal" to someone I've talked to in the past? What was the fudding in my post?

I was not talking to a 70 year old, and I taught my dad how to use flathub with the terminal just fine

My point was that it is something that is different from windows, but is ultimately just as simple. Imho If you want someone to use linux you should teach them how to do simple tasks in the terminal, like what I did in that post

I love the bolt system so much too. You get rewarded for exploring and poking around but it's not as punishing as megaman X because you can choose exactly what you want and what you don't want. It's awesome and they dropped it instantly. Very sad.

It feels a lot more sluggish to me, not to mention it does an upstream oopsie on my installation I cannot seem to fix. I prefer to just go to the distribution itself, even though discover is a pretty good feature for new users.

Not wanting to learn how to do this is a valid reason not to use linux, sure, but that's ultimately what it boils down to in the end. All the other discussions on what is superior just boils down to minutia like that SUDO thing or not being able to play genshin impact as easily

Likewise, on Linux if you want a piece of software you go to flathub, you search for the software, copy the install script, paste it in a terminal and follow the install wizard. Then you can use it. You also have to learn this before you can do that because that's how information works

On windows if you want a piece of software you open firefox from the start menu, go to google, type in "software download", you download a file and you doubleclick it in your file manager. Then you follow a wizard and you can use it. That too is something you're not born knowing how to do.

I gotta disagree though, most of the ways you interact with linux are just as simple as interacting with windows, you just gotta learn how to do it, just like how you learnt how to do it with windows.

It all depends on what you're doing. If you want to edit video you need a macbook or you're an enthausiast. If you want to develop software you need to use linux or you're an enthausiast. I guess if you want to play valorant or league of legends you'll need windows for that..

Every workday I have to start several services for my software development internship and it requires me to run 3 commands which all require elevated privileges. I could create a script for that with my eyes closed in linux, since "sudo" will do just that, but in windows that command looks like this

At least the list of chores are easier to execute than on windows, like there isn't even a batch command to give yourself privileges, to do that you gotta launch powershell from batch. I have like 15 scripts just to launch different windows of powershell to run tasks simultaneously

Such a good pen. I lost mine a couple months after I got it and I went back to the same store to buy another of the same exact model. That's how good it was. I rarely ever do that.

It's a cool piece of software to mod onto novel pieces of hardware i guess. Using retroarch will feel like shit but if you're doing it on the ps1 classic it's better than nothing.
comment in response to

Retroarch is one of those programs I love in theory but in practice it's like yeah go 12 menus deep to change your button mappings, you can't change the layout of the touch menu on your phone, sometimes it stops working altogether and then also it's default theme suuuuucks
