This is a subject I have been brooding about for some time. I am grateful to the Washington Monthly for posting this piece. washingtonmonthly.com/2025/06/27/i...

My law review note was about the right to publicity.

What a year to be the president of the Organization of American Historians. We’ll meet in Philadelphia in April, 2026. What I think I will say in my presidential address changes weekly.

Black Dandy Exhibit at the Met. Second photo is of Frederick Douglass’s clothing. Wow. Was surprised at how affecting it was to just see them and know he wore these things. Du Bois’s photo powerful, but in a different way.

Congratulations!

Wonderful evening talking about the Declaration of Independence over the years with David Blight, Akhil Reed Amar, and Jeff Rosen at the National Convention Center.

Excellent piece by my Columbia law colleagues explaining the faulty logic in last week's dismissal of the Columbia AAUP case against the Trump administration.

It was in my children’s school. In kindergarten they did gym one day swim the next day. As they got older, it went to one week swim and one week of gym. Both are strong swimmers today. Far too many Black Americans don’t know how to swim.

This is an interesting article. I’ve wondered about this myself. Not in the context of dating because I’ve been out of that world for decades, but just going places and not seeing that many men. Men, Where Have You Gone? Please Come Back. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/s...

Hahahaha! Yes!

The framing is terrible.
